There are many traditions people have during thanksgiving. That could include the food they eat, what activities they participate in, or just travelling to the same place every year. Even if people don’t celebrate Thanksgiving they can still have traditions. For some people thanksgiving is not a time to give thanks, for some people Thanksgiving is a way to get away from people, but there is a reason we have this holiday. It was created to give
Certainly, Vietnam is not a strange name to many people in the world. This easternmost country on the Indochina Peninsula in Southeast Asia is not famous only for a brutal jungle war, but also the unique and rich culture. Like Thank Giving or Christmas in the Western, Tet holiday seems to be the biggest traditional celebration in Vietnam that culture has countless descriptions: motion pictures, books, newspapers and so on. This essay will analyze typical cultural value of this nation on Lunar New Year namely collectivism, belief, norm and high-context culture via a touching short film “Gift for Tet”. This film talks about Phu-a poor student and his family before the most important celebration.
Thanksgiving is a great holiday. One of the most unique things I find about Thanksgiving is that many families get together on this holiday, but they all do not do the same things. Some things might be the same, but not all. Each family has their own way of doing stuff on Thanksgiving. Some families gather together at a specific place every year.
At the core of this tradition is the food, including the turkey. This celebratory turkey feast, according to Siskind, is a symbol for the conquering of Native American tribes. The turkey is noted for its both wild and domesticated likenesses, similar to the Native Americans (179). The Europeans first began eating turkey upon their arrival in North America, as the turkey was traditional only to this region. Therefore, “as a true ‘native of America’ the turkey, wild and domesticated, could easily become a symbol for those other natives” (ibid).

In addition, a few examples of traditional Hawaiian dishes include Pork dishes and the use of tomatoes and chilli peppers. These items are commonly used when preparing banquets as guidance for the Portuguese who came to the islands. Although, the use of taro is common and used in the making of poi. This meaning that the traditional food consumed in Hawaii is a cross over between European, Chinese, Portuguese, Korean, Japanese, and Polynesian influences, all unique and in spite of this, native Hawaiians also consume a lot of local naturally grown products and delicacies including vegetables, fruits, nuts, fish, seafood and beef.
Food pantries seem to become more popular and many of us take time to thank God for all we have been blessed with. I am so happy that Americans have continued with traditional ways of celebrating thanksgiving. Although we have added our own twist on the day such as football and chocolate cream pie, these traditions all follow the same original themes of thanksgiving; recreational activities, food and thankfulness. If the pilgrims and Wampanoag tribe members saw
