ASW, respected judges and audience. This year's MIST theme is "The Art of Generosity". Not everyone can be generous or is. Right? Some simply just do not have the means and others, well, we like to say they are selfish. By definition both selfishness and generosity are complete opposites. Because you can't be greedy or stingy and still be able to give and care for another person. So what do we do? Congrats to those who have over come this quality but what about the majority of us who still have to think twice before giving or helping? Here is an idea. What if I tell you, that you can be a self centered person who mainly cares about him or herself and at the same time be the most compassionate person out there. So how does it work? You see the problem is with the way we perceive generosity.Many of us believe that our selfless actions are not reciprocated enough and the only person that benefits is the receiver. But little do we know that when we stretch our hands forward to give or help it comes back and when it does it brings back with it numerous benefits. There is more to gain then to lose when it comes to generosity, just like a good painting. Yes, you spend hours of hard work and tubes of paint on a painting, but at the end the satisfaction and praise you receive is worth it all. Although, there is one more reason and one that I can’t explain to you, and that is how one feels at the moment of giving. Just like any other irreplaceable feeling in life, the feeling of giving cannot be put into mere words or images. You see generosity is an Art. An art critic can tell you what elements or techniques were used in the painting, but they will not be able to tell you how the artist felt before, during and after the painting.
