The Future Of Car’s What is the future of cars? When it comes to the future of cars, people usually tend to think of boring, ugly cars such as the Toyota Prius. Cars like the Toyota Prius are not the future of cars because they use batteries but also use combustion engines to operate. These cars are not electric, they are only hybrids. This means that the car uses a combustion engine just like any other car, but it also uses a big battery which is placed in the back of the car to power it when you go a certain speed. Usually, hybrid vehicles use their battery when going around 30 miles per hour, and anything faster than that is powered by the cars regular gasoline powered engine. One of the most unique features of the all electric Tesla is the giant center mounted, 17 inch display screen that provides clear, easy-to-use, on-screen touch controls. There are only a few buttons on the dash and those are for the glove box and the hazard lights, everything else is controlled via the screen. Even the speedometer in the Tesla is completely redesigned in a new way that is unique and different from any other car. The speedometer and energy systems information are digitally projected onto a driver-facing screen where conventional cars keep their analog and digital dials. Cars that use regular combustion engines and multi speed transmissions have hundreds of moving parts, require regular maintenance and cant be adjusted or configured without a trip to the shop. Teslas use electric motors that have two moving parts and single-speed “transmissions” that have no gears. The company says its drivetrain has about 17 moving parts compared with about 200 in a conventional internal combustion drivetrain. The Tesla system is virtually maintenance-free.
