Metaphysical issues of consciousness
Before defining “Metaphysical issues of consciousness”, we need to define terms 'metaphysics' and 'consciousness' separately.
Metaphysics
The word metaphysics derive from the Greek word (meta- “beyond”, “upon”, “after”) and
(Physics) i.e. beyond the physics. Metaphysics is the questions about the fundamental nature of reality. It explains the fundamental notions by which people understand the world. Such as: - existence, objects and their properties, space and time, cause and effect and possibility.
Some of the metaphysical questions are written below:
(a). Is god exist, or not?
(b). Can there be any things that do not exists in time and space?

Consciousness
Consciousness is the state of awareness of mind, or, of being aware of an external object or something within oneself. Defining nature of consciousness is more perplexing area of philosophy. It is originally derived from the Latin word con (with) and scire ( to know). There are many questions arise in front of us about the mental state of consciousness. How are we to understand that we are in conscious mental state? For instance, how is the conscious mental state related to the body? Can consciousness be explained in terms of brain activity? What makes a mental state be a conscious mental state? For different organisms the concept of consciousness may be different. So we have divided this in three parts which cover whole organisms.
1. Creature consciousness: For different organisms on this earth the sense of conscious are different. So there are many criteria to sense creature
However, advancements in the field made it possible to better understand that not only was psychology more complex than concepts of consciousness, but also that there were many other mental aspects at play. Consciousness has since been redefined to express the idea of awareness – both of personal being and the environment that exists around it. It is through cognitive neuroscience, which is the study of the brain in relation to its mental processes, that scientists can better understand the level of consciousness. Knowing how the body reacts at various levels, what human control exists in each and how they contribute to the activities of the brain can likely explain a lot about human behavior. Within cognitive neuroscience, the latest research is able to the show the ways in which brain activity centered on imagined thoughts, personal ideals and concepts and the inner working of this organ direct behavior among individuals of varying backgrounds and physical
This quote that I will be analyzing and explaining why it is the key quote that represents the thesis of Nagel. Nagel’s main goal is to define consciousness and refute any reductive approach to consciousness. Nagel claims that consciousness is the reason why the mind-body problem is so difficult. Consciously being aware and cognizant is unexplainable because it is hard to reduce down to a single entity. The chosen quote is essentially saying that all organisms have conscious states and in order to truly be that organism or understand, you must understand their consciousness while still maintaining your own consciousness.
Consciousness is being aware of your surroundings and this is something America has learned from 9/11. We are aware of everything around us and we learned how to be extra cautious. The rescuers put themselves at risk and knew that there was a possibility that everything could collapse on them and they could die….. they still went down and climbed through the wreckage to save John and Will
Inside a Hero’s Journey How do psychoanalytic critics interpret The Hunger Games? Suzanne Collins’s novel The Hunger Games illustrates the challenging transition from Katniss growing from a young adolescence to an adult, from losing her father to volunteering in the games, and this fear of losing in the games but she couldn’t show any sign of weakness. This captured Katniss Everdeen’s growing responsibilities she faced under the Capitol’s spotlight in the Games. The Psychoanalytic theory has levels of understanding, elements of personality, defense mechanisms and psychosexual stages.
In 1986 Frank Jackson published an article titled “What Mary Didn’t Know.” , Jackson’s argument in this paper was to be aligned with Physicalism; more specifically the knowledge argument. In his paper he tells us of a woman, Mary who for scientific purposes has been confined to a black and white room, and learns everything there is to know about the physical world through lectures and black and white books, she understands all the physical facts about us and our environment. This is the basic definition of physicalism and why this paper was written because to say that there is more information that Mary doesn’t understand which isn’t physical would disprove the entire existence of physicalism. Just a few years earlier in 1982 Daniel Dennet wrote an article titled “How to How to study human consciousness
Think of this consciousness as the Being that permeates all of creation. This consciousness is in you, it is in me, it is in her, and it is in everyone and everything that you perceive as reality. When this Adam, this Being, rushed into me, something remarkable happened. I experienced intense emotional swings for almost two years. And gradually, this story teller began to emerge in my mind.
Double consciousness, the way in which people, specifically African Americans maintain two behavioral scripts, one for how they would typically move across the world, another that takes racially prejudice onlookers into consideration (You May Ask Yourself). Although first coined in the early 20th century by W.E.B DuBois in a time that racism was more prevalent, the term may still be applicable to the United States currently. The Doll Study provides evidence for this topic. As it allows insight as to how the easily impressable minds of children are affected by their parents and surrounding and reflecting on show the children see themselves.
Being that the mind is physical, there must be some aspects of consciousness that can be reduced. The reducible qualities of consciousness include the functional aspects of the brain—behavior, information processing, reaction to stimuli, etc. On the other hand, there is the subjective experience that arises from these physical processes. Can the subjective part of consciousness be explained by physical processes? I do not think that is possible.

Title : Phenomenalism and Philosophy of Perception Name : Sargam Jain Roll No : 13110109 Word Count : Phenomenalism and Philosophy of Perception Phenomenalism is a philosophical theory of perception. The theory proposes that we cannot experience anything beyond the phenomena of our perceptions i.e. if we cannot have experience of an object then we are not able to describe about that anything. Phenomenalism makes a logical link between our experience and the world of physical objects.
Kant’s attempt to save the metaphysics was to propose synthetic a priori knowledge that Hume failed to recognize. Hume holds that we have no necessary (or even probable) material synthetic knowledge, but Kant believes that there should be another type of knowledge that is universal, necessary and a priori that tells us about the world (synthetic). We shall start our discussion with the first part of the Transcendental Doctrine of the Elements with the Transcendental Aesthetic. Kant holds that there’s no other way that objects can be given to us through anything other than our sensibility (A20). By sensibility, he refers to the faculty of our receptivity of representations in which we are affected by objects.
The conscious part is the tip of the iceberg that you see on the surface of the sea, say 5% of the total part of the iceberg, while
200). Consciousness is the knowledge that an individual has, but also includes the patterns of the individual in relation to their interaction with the environment and others. Expanding consciousness comes from pattern recognition. With recognizing patterns an individual will gain insight and knowledge.
Self-awareness crates a chance for everyone to make necessary changes in his/her behaviors and beliefs. While you’re improving your self-awareness, your personal thoughts and interpretations will start to
It is hard to explain the idea of consciousness as till now there is no any scientific explanation, unlike the function of human body and the involvement of cells, the way we think is still abstract. However, some religions like Christianity and Judaism they refer our consciousness to the creator the supreme power, who created this whole universe that we live in, from the planets to the sun which gives warm to earth, stars, valleys, lakes, rivers, plains, mountains and the living creatures. So it is assumed that consciousness is created and thus never questioned. Since creation and science is after explaining the origin of life. Since then and science is able to discover how life evolved till today.
