Third world poverty has not only been a frequent idea of mine, but a recurring problem globally. In fact, the topic is considered to be a social phenomenon not only affecting household income, but education levels, healthcare, resources, technology, jobs and much more. Actually, my parents, like many others, told me to be grateful for what I have because there are people less fortunate. Due to social media, Many have witnessed first hand the hardships that people have to endure globally. Moreover, this is where I became interested in the topic of worldwide poverty. Traveling is also another reason for my lingering curiosity, but I wouldn’t want to go to a country wrapped destitution.
After recognizing why this topic is so important on a global

Moreover, budgeting a worldwide voyage to a nation in poverty is not a realistic method for solving my experiment; this is because of my location, and the resources accessible. In other words, I would have to stay local when conducting analysis on the topic. Moreover, Instead of traveling to a third world country, I acknowledged the most similar tactic to gathering this data which was staying here in the United States. Needless to say, this would only give me a jist of what it’s like to live in a community struck with poverty. Furthermore, research would be gathered in a low income neighborhood in America, with high crime rates, low employment, and education opportunities. Interviewing and conducting an ethnography would be the two methods used to answer the main question.
Interviewing will be the first of two major components to my experiment because I get to receive first hand information from one's experiences. Moreover, questions pertaining to one's living conditions, accessibility to jobs, or education, and how many receive federal welfare would be essential to understanding these communities of people. This information will differ from each household and communities, depending on the inhabitants; comparing the data will be essential when trying to come up with the different parts that influence poverty rates, and coming up with a solution in
According to Hodgkinson et al, there are “disparities in poverty rates depending on age, race or ethnicity, family structure, and geographic location. Although the largest number of poor and low income children are white, minority children are disproportionately affected, particularly African American, American Indian, and Hispanic children. In 2013, Hispanic and African American children were ~3 times more likely than white and Asian children to be poor. Children raised by single parents and children raised in the South or West are also more likely to be poor or low income than children residing in the Northeast” (Hodgkinson et al, 2016). Children and youth are a vulnerable population because they have no control over their situation or environment;
Millions of people all over the world suffer from poverty. Americans usually think of third world countries when thinking of poverty, often one will not realize that it is a problem right here at home. Everyone will agree that poverty is a problem, but how exactly does poverty affect people? Most people will think of an old beggar on the side of the road with a sign and a tin can in their hand when they think of poor people. But the age group that is most affected by poverty in our nation is our children.
Today, as we find ourselves in the twenty first century, our problem with poverty still exists and appears to be getting worse. Cities are continuing to grow to max capacities, hunger rings clear throughout the world, natural resources are depleted everyday due to over use, causing a degradation of our environment and billions of individuals do not claim Yahweh as their God. These are the occurrences on this planet on an everyday day cycle. There appears to be more focus on selfishness and the everyday rather than living in community with others. Plain and simple, poverty is serious and we must get to the root of it.
Poverty is a crippling situation which can stagnate the development of individuals. Insufficiency in a society can affect persons in more ways than one. Those experiencing a substandard way of living may not be able to obtain quality education which can cause a lack of sufficient employment. Lower paying jobs will more than likely not include quality health insurance for the employee.
Poverty is universal but does vary within countries, even neighborhoods. According to society poverty is hunger, lack of shelter, not having the ability to see a doctor when necessary and limited education. In third world countries, it is very common for parents to conceive a high number of children as a source of labor. Not only do these kids frequently receive slight or no education, but large families in these countries are the main contributor to global overpopulation. These children are not privileged with the same basic opportunities given to an American child.
The solutions therefore interpreted as a need for greater economic growth, with a focus on building human capacity/capital. Conceptualization of poverty has broadened to include non-economic components. Thus, poverty is increasingly being recognized as multi-dimensional, distinguishing the numerous aspects of people’s lives affected by poverty, including economic and non-economic dimensions, and recognizing that poverty occurs within and is affected by the political, economic, social and cultural context (Sen,
The Effects of Growing up in Poverty Poverty is not a new phenomenon we are dealing with. It has been an issue from the foretime till now. Poverty gradually has continued and changed its form in a different manner that has created many problems for the new generations, for example, in the old days poverty implicated to lack land and food, but nowadays, poverty means lack of education, lack of food and water, lack of money and much more. In 2009 the estimated number of impoverished families was more than 45 million, which is about 14.5 percent of the total U.S. population (Gongloff 2014). Majority of the poor Americans are white, but the poverty rate is much higher among minorities. Poverty can affect a child in many different ways. It can affect the whole child, the development of the child’s brain; it can also affect the child’s performance at school. Poverty can not only hinder a child, but it can also cause stress within the family.
Poverty can adversely affect the population in so many ways. Families living in poverty can face emotional and social challenges, cognitive lacks and health and safety issues and acute and chronic stresses. Levels of stress increase with the economic circumstances. Subsequent poverty and job loss are associated with violence in families, including child and elder abuse. These families are also more likely to be exposed to illnesses, job loss, eviction, criminal victimization and family death.
Poverty is not only just in the U.S. its all over world. Poverty is lacking as such needs as cash, meals, water, clothing, or a home/saf place to stay. Accoding to The American economist Mollie Orshansky (1915–2006) poverty was known as the deprivation of "those goods and services and pleasures which others around us take for granted. " Poverty is a global problem, but there is much debate regarding how to define poverty and how to remedy
How do you define the harshness of society? Social Justice and Poverty is a hard concept to analyze when one does not have a clear understanding of the social justice structure and why most people living in poverty remain poor. Looking beyond the aspects of what causes everyday circumstances and situations, society must become more well-rounded to people living in poverty are lacking their everyday hierarchical needs. In a world with people who are very rich and people who are very poor, society tends to put their focus on making the rich richer. Poverty has swept over many cities, states and countries with low unemployment rates, child hunger, economic violence, homelessness, and major social class issues.
‘Poverty’- a simple word with unlimited connotations. Poverty is a universal issue that has been plaguing our Earth for centuries; thus it is essential that the immensity of the situation is acknowledged by everyone. If looked up, you’ll find the exact definition of poverty being: ’general scarcity, dearth, or the state of one who lacks a certain amount of material possessions or money. [1] Poverty is a multifaceted concept, which includes social, economic, and political elements. [2] Poverty may be defined as either absolute or relative.’
Inefficient policies all around the world and especially in our country are contributing to problems in the society. And the biggest problem which the world faces today is the problem of “Poverty” and “Inequality”. It is hard for one to determine whether poverty causes inequality or is it the other way around because both these problems are interrelated. Poverty is something which is caused due to transferring wealth in to the hands of a specific group and the unjust policies of the government. And inequality is discriminating a person in all spheres of life which gives a rise to sense of deprivation.
Poverty still occurs across the modern world which we live in nowadays. While the majority of people would relate the word poverty with less developed countries the truth is that poverty is to be found everywhere you look. Yet the term, poverty, is brought up to discussion. Because would you consider yourself poor even though you didn’t know the better scenario existed? And isn’t it sometimes enough just to have a bed to sleep in, food to eat and people around who love you?
