I asked my father as usual and his answer to my questions was quite straightforward: “Be a civil engineer.” Keeping that in my mind, I got admitted into the civil engineering department of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), the top most engineering school of our country and then completed my BSc in civil engineering in September 2015. The main motivation for me to choose Transportation Engineering for my higher studies was traffic congestion, the common phenomenon in the lives of the dwellers of Dhaka, the capital city. I was unaware of the severity of traffic jam in Dhaka because I hardly moved away from my campus. But I faced the real scenario when I started my job. As a surveyor and data analyst, I collected a total eight hours categorized traffic volume data to find out the intersection capacity and delay via simulation in VISSIM. In my final year, I along with my group mates completed a project in our traffic engineering laboratory where we proposed a complete roundabout design at Polashi five approach
