EXERCISE BEHAVIOUR

INTRODUCTION-

We are required to interview two people about their exercise behavior in two ways: a. questionnaire and b. unstructured. We have to prepare one structured questionnaire for exercise and the other method I have taken under the unstructured approach is the face to face interview.

I.

A. QUESTIONNAIRE (Structured Approach)-

Structured approach are formal and standardized and the choice of alternative answers is restricted which also helps in reducing confusion of the respondent while answering the questions.

2. How much time do you spend exercising a day? o 30 mins o 1 hour o 1.5 hrs o More than 1.5 hrs

A. UNSTRUCTURED APPROACH-

In the unstructured approach we directly communicate with the respondent and get the results. This is a good way of gathering data as it provides flexibility and a broader perspective to the interviewer. There are many ways of conducting the unstructured survey like telephonic interview, face to face interview, mail interview, etc. The method I have adopted to interact is Face to face interview. Face to face is a direct and very good attempt to get valid & reliable results as we can also observe the respondent’s reaction while answering the questions.

The questions I asked while having face to face interview were the same which I have included in the questionnaire but in a detailed manner. I was able to ask some more questions related to the previously asked question and thus could gather more detailed information. I observed the verbal & non-verbal behavior of the respondents and was able to obtain personal information of the respondent.

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN BOTH METHODS-
