The growing population Worldwide post many issues, problems and challenges. One of the pressures that the society facing is unavailability of food supply. The simplest food that is served in the table of Asian and other people cooked in several ways isrice.However some people may not even eat rice due to its high cost and the production of this commodity is declining. Now, it is a must to implement or adopt better strategies to increase the production of rice. And if not then many people will be suffering from starvation. Constrains in the production of this commodity maybe due to limited land, and unsustainable farming system. The Department of Agriculture (DA) and Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM)identified that the root of unsustainable agriculture in the Philippines were the improper management of farm wastes and nutrient management strategies. The observation of this agencies support the claim of Mendoza (n.d.) that for almost three decades, farmers in the Philippines have been using chemical fertilizers, pesticides and growth regulators in their crop production strategies.
