So my goal is to go back to my country to build schools, libraries, hospitals, houses and other resources. Since my country doesn’t have the ability to provide and I want to make a change. I want to start a philanthropic organization, where anyone can donate funds to the less fortunate. I also want to give back to my Alma mater. Donating money to my college additionally benefits to contribute back to the upcoming generation of students.
Getting my bachelor’s degree and going the extra step to get my master’s degree was always my plan. By coming to college, I have built better networking skills as well as better social skills. Early in the semester, I made it my mission to join different organizations on campus to refine myself into the person I wanted to become. It is one of my passions to help people, including myself, become the best version of themselves as possible. It 's easier to help my friends here on campus than the friends I have back home who didn’t go to
Since I was a little girl I have always been told to be on top of my studies and to go do what I love most. However, with college I am able to take on and obtain new knowledge to further my studies and do what I love most. I see college as another stepping stone into a great life and future. Being able to attend college is a blessing, this will help me understand and see the different perspective of the world around me. The final reason that led me to college is to experience the" life of as a college student".
But this is not where my journey ends. I can’t wait to use the knowledge that I gain from college and apply it into my career. To make it past the next biggest trial to come before me and emerge victorious is my biggest dream. I am very eager and anxious to begin this next chapter of my life, and I hope you will give me that
My “threshold guardian: was most likely myself and my fears. At first, it took me a while to accept my responsibilities and get over my fear of failing and getting nowhere. Now that I am within the “unknown” there are many challenges that I face every day and will continue to face. There is the challenge of finding out what I want to study in college, doing well on standardized tests, and getting good grades in all of my classes. There are also temptations I have to face such as choosing whether to hang out with friends or do the homework that is due the next day.
As a member of a team, I had to fully commit myself, because my actions did not only have an effect on myself but my teammates as well. Giving 110% was something my parents had taught me to always do. I learned the importance of responsibility. I told my mom my junior year of high school that I wanted to play lacrosse in college. She had told me if I really wanted to play in college that I would have to work hard, practice more and focus on my grades.
I am very glad that I attended the Discover Your Major Day event because I feel as though if I did not go, I would not have realized that I wanted to add a minor or a concentration to my four years of study here at the University of Memphis. The event met my expectations and even more. I did not know that I would get as much information as I did and that the faculty would be so voluntary to help. At first, I assumed that I would walk around to each of the tables, pick up information sheets, and take it with me to look over myself later on. But to my surprise, everyone was very helpful and I got all of my questions answered.
Though that is for you to discover. We are strong enough to increase our individual potential. A college education can help increase your understanding of the community around and the world as you explore interests, discover new areas of knowledge, and consider lifelong ambitions and goals. Getting a college education is a positive investment that will pay back for a lifetime even if there are people who say that graduating from college was no positive result. People with a college education have better job opportunities, earn more money, and develop skills that can never be taken away, grow in many ways, and more.
Why college education is important to me? College is an institution of higher learning that grants degrees, diplomas and certificates in various subjects’ areas. College often plays an important role in molding and shaping a young person’s future. It unlocks opportunities because the knowledge and the skills one acquires from attending a college put them in a position to obtain a well paid job and make one become independent. It signifies who or what that person becomes tomorrow.
As I move forward with my first semester of college, I am bringing pieces of all of these people with me.. So, I’m going to continue on in college knowing I have so many people behind me. I will also always remember that the most important thing they could have taught me was to simply be
Deciding to attend Texas A&M University was both a hardship and immense, opportunity in my life. Coming from a close knit background, and possessing a very family oriented character, my decision to come to this incredible institution was one out of my comfort zone. If I was to be asked one year ago, If I could ever see myself standing on this marvelous campus, attending one of the top schools in the nation, I would have honestly responded, no. My counselors would have said no, my friends, my college advisor, my family. The answer would not have been yes, not because I wasn 't capable of meeting the standards to attend, but because there seemed more obstacles in my way than there was forces pushing me forward.
I will not lie to you UNC Wilmington was not my first choice of schools, I was the kid who wanted to get out of the area and explore. My dreams originated elsewhere in big cities living in the fast lane and no turning back. I felt this way all of the way up until about two weeks ago, this was when I realized everything I want and or need in life is right here in Wilmington. Love also played a big factor in my decision to want to attend UNC Wilmington but a love much more than that of any significant other this love is for my school. I attend Heide Trask High School, it is very small and the athletics are very lack luster at best.
Why do you want to participate in the Bridges Summer Program? Participating in the Bridges Summer Program will help me greatly in the transition between high school and college. Reading about the program I have learned that this program is meant to help students transition to a college-level work environment and I know that I need this type of help. The good thing about this program is that they help students individually and this way students will have a better chance at really being prepared to start college in the fall. I want to participate in this program so that I can take advantage of how the program will help me to reach my career goal and transition from Valencia to UCF by directconnect.
“Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today.” (Malcolm X). Obtaining a college education will give a person an enormous advantage in the future. It could be the difference between having a tremendous lifestyle or limited lifestyle. The reason I am attending college is it could lead to discovering the best fitting career, increase potential earning and personal fulfillment. A diverse amount of new fields will be exposed to me while pursuing a college education, both through required courses and the individuals throughout.
This year taught me so much that I use certain techniques to help me in other subjects. I’m ready for college and ready to pass the TSI and be very glad that I went through so much stress to get to where I am right now. Hopefully by following all these steps will make me very successful on anything I want to be
