I. INTRODUCTION Water is one of the most abundant and vital compound in the ecosystem. It is one of the most essential abiotic factors that were necessary for sustaining life. All living organisms on earth need water for survival and development. Apart from the various uses and benefits that it offers, the most important role that water plays in the lives of living organisms especially in human beings is for rehydration. However, the increased industrialization, human population, man-made activities and the use of fertilizers continuously pollute the water resources with different harmful contaminants such as heavy metals (Pb, Cr, Fe, As) which make the chemical composition of the water more dangerous and toxic for human consumption. Thus, there is a need of regular assessment for the quality of drinking water because polluted water exposes the population to environmentally-related diseases (Greenpeace, 2012). Pollution of water resources such as untreated wastewater discharges affects human health through the spread of disease-causing bacteria and viruses. Some known examples of diseases that may be spread …show more content…
Ensuring adequate availability of water in the future will require protecting the country’s water sources through improvement of catchment areas and watershed protection, regular assessment and monitoring of consumption patterns and trends, and efficient allocation of existing water supplies. This alarming situation urged the researchers to conduct a study about the physicochemical and biological properties of water samples from District IV of Laguna Province which composed of sixteen (16) municipalities: Cavinti, Famy, Kalayaan, Luisiana, Lumban, Mabitac, Magdalena, Majayjay, Paete, Pagsanjan, Pakil, Pangil, Pila, Santa Cruz, Santa Maria,
“The American people have a right to air that they and their children can breathe without fear” — Lyndon Baines Johnson (Pollution). One should be able to inhale the air. It’s a fundamental necessity for everyone. Filling the lungs to their satisfaction and breathing out in relief. The cycle continues day and night.

His office possibly will take action to put a stop to the toxic water billing. "Words can barely describe this tragedy. Things went terribly wrong," Bill Schuette said. "I would certainly not bathe a newborn child or a young infant in this bad water and if you can 't drink the bad water you shouldn 't pay for it."

The main reasons that China was driven into the intense water shortage is, their Government policies, Population increases and the most tremendous reason is the industrialization of China. One of the main reasons that is driving China's unfortunate water crisis is, China’s tremendous population growth. As China’s cities are increasing in population more of their residence are consuming their limited water supply.
The city of Flint, Michigan and its residents have been suffering from their own tap water for months. When a resident turns on a water faucet in their home, the water emits a strange smell and the color comes out brown. It turns out that water contains a high amount of iron and lead. What made the tap water contaminated? Why is the city unable to obtain clean tap water despite being under one hundred miles away from the Great Lakes?
Drinking contaminated water can cause different types of cancers and also infertility and birth defects due to of the presence hazardous chemicals. Impoundments that have not been built or properly closed off have led to the death of many animals and also health issues in
Water from the Nile River is immensely toxic or unhealthy, but when but through cleaning systems like a filter can change that. The very scarce but clean water can provide the proper nutrients to defeat and prevent waterborne
Imagine having to pay for water to shower, drink, wash your hands with etc. Bolivia was a country that was subjected to the privatization of water and they responded negatively. The citizens of Bolivia weren't avid about handing their fresh clean drinking water over to foreign corporations. “On January 10 the citizens of El Alto took to the streets en masse to demand that their water system, privatized in 1997 under World Bank pressure, be returned to public hands.” Three days later the president cancelled the water concession.
The water issue in California is growing every day, especially in a time of drought. However, we are thinking about the water usage in California all wrong. As stated in Michael Hiltzik ‘s article, “The Wrong Way to Think about California Water”. California 's revenue is greatly dependent on agriculture, which is the biggest water consumer. Although, this is all the media focuses on as the cause of water depletion, especially California 's almond crops.
This article acts as a continuation of the research done by the author while conducting fieldwork in South Africa pertaining to the ways that water privatization has affected poor, South African women. The piece examines the transition from the apartheid regime to the election of the African National Congress (ANC) in 1994. Women and girls living in poverty are intimately linked to water, as the article notes, and this relationship is explored as the author considers the ways in which privatization has impacted their lives physically, mentally, and emotionally. The article allows the reader to examine the role that international institutions, such as the World Bank, International Monetary Fund, and the World Trade Organization, played in South
Around the globe every minute a child dies because of water-related disease, Women spend hours walking to collect water, it has been estimated 1 in 9 people lack access to safe water, hospital bed spaces are occupied majorly people related to water-borne diseases. Many different types of people could possibly object this solution depending on their views. But mainly only farmers would object to these water cuts. Arguments that might say to oppose my stance is that these water cuts would not allow farmers to adequately grow their crops and might even lose money and crops if they cut back on water. Farmers use tons of extra gallons of water on crops than is actually even needed. In California farmers take almost 70% of all water taken from the colorado river which happens to supply fresh water to all the states in the mid west.
Snitow and Kaufman’s study was on the water crisis in the United states and the impacts it is making. People don’t realize this, but the water crisis has become more and more of a problem in the United States. Snitow and Kauffman give a lot of valuable information on topics such as making water private. This privatization of water is allowing for companies and corporations to take control of water rather than it being a public resource, like it is supposed to be. In the text it says, “The conservative agenda of small government, deregulation, and privatization has given big business an opening to create a private water market to replace a public service.”
The right to water is a social, political and economic issue that needs to be addressed and regulated through effective policies. First Nations’ right to water has been recognized as a significant policy issue in Canada. Canada has failed to effectively address the issue as its policies tend to disregard Aboriginal peoples’ right to safe drinking water. First Nations across Canada have identified the constraint of water and water governance in their communities. Despite living in a developed country, First Nations’ communities do not have access to same clean water as the rest of the Canadian population.
Many people have wondered why China's water scarcity is getting worse. It is because Global warming, Water pollution and the most important is Industrialization. North China is suffering the most. This means it does not have enough fresh water to meet its needs. The North's lack of water will now put the whole city in danger.
Water resources problem areis a serious challenge to the social and economic sustainable development around the whole world. With regards to the predator of fresh water shortage in global scale, Canada also unfortunately falls to its prey. Blessed with abundant fresh water in lakes, streams, rivers and most importantly –the underground water, Canada has long taken it for granted that fresh water supply will never be their concern. However, the approaching of fresh water shortage has only until recently woken Canadians from their dreams. When Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development implemented underground water tapping programs and the Munk School of Global Affairs held a symposium themed on mapping underground water, federal and public concerns are fomenting.
