If you are applying to be Prefect, please answer the questions below:
Read through the job description for Prefect. Please reflect (through writing) on why you are a good candidate for this role?
I knew I wanted to become a Prefect after my birthday last year as a freshman. It was October, and I was still extremely homesick. I felt like I did not belong at an institution like Pomfret for multiple reasons, the biggest one being that I was the only black boy in a grade with more than 50 other people. Everywhere I went, and every conversation I would have in that first month, my skin color would always be the topic of conversation. I was constantly reminded that I was different from everyone else, and I had not found a stable support system

Even if I’m not chosen to be a prefect , I will work as a leader without the title to achieve my goal of impacting the community.
If you could choose one dorm to be a Prefect in, what dorm it would be? Why would you be a good fit for this dorm?
I could choose to dorm to be a Prefect in, it would definitely be Hale. As I was saying before, when I first came to this school, I did not feel a connection here at all. Since the experience of boarding school, will most likely be a new one to most freshman, settling in will definitely be hard. As a freshman, I was very quiet, and I rarely came out of my shell. My prefects, Wesley Yang and Aren Craft did a great job of exposing me to the loving environment that the community fosters. And seeing how that has paid off since I’m more comfortable and loving towards this community, I want to in sense give back, and do the same for someone else. Being able to facilitate a 2.5 week long project with the freshman is what has motivated me to want to become a freshman perfect. Seeing their growth, and how they have developed over a short period of time, makes me wonder about the potential growth of a new freshman over a whole school year. Freshman, while they start off at the bottom of the totem pole, they are the ones who will soon be seniors. So it is important that they learn to appreciate this community, so that others below them can

I am naturally just a very kind and generous person, that finds its hard sometimes to say “no”. However I do understand that the job of Prefect requires someone to be firm in their actions, and someone who always abides by the rules. Knowing this, I will make an extra effort to make sure that the kids in my dorm do respect me, and that I do enforce the rules on them. Another aspect of being a perfect that might be challenging is my time management of everything else im doing. I’m planning on doing multiple things next year, and my use time might become something to reconsider. Even though these are potential challenges I might encounter, they are also things I know I can easily handle if I put my mind to
As a student with many qualities, I believe that I should be in the NJHS. Many of the traits that I have as an individual would benefit the standards that the NJHS expects. For instance, I am dedicated, diligent, responsible, and a strong leader. One trait I show off daily is my dedication for school. My priorities are set on getting good grades and working hard on my school work.
I looked different, and was treated differently. I was often bullied for who I was and thought the best way to make it stop, was to fit in. I started wearing similar clothing, walking, talking and acting like the kids around me. I had lost whom I was, was no better assimilated, and was still picked on. I had enough.
I think that I should be chosen for Link Crew because I am always able to help out, give directions to lost freshmen, influence them in a positive manner, and be a kind upperclassman. I get good grades, I’m in all honors classes, I participate in a sport year round, inside and outside of school. I am involved in Calling all Colors here at Mona Shores High School, which is a group about tolerance and accepting other, and teaching others at our school how to make everyone feel equally welcome. I plan to keep in touch with my 9th graders by doing little things for them through the year, like dropping off little items to their classes; just like I was given as a freshman. I plan to say hello in the hallways and let them all know on August 31st, for freshman orientation that if they every have any questions, that I am easy to get ahold of.
Third, I will serve the the school and community. I 'm willing to take on difficult or inconspicuous responsibilities; I work well with others and I 'm happy to work with others. Fourth, I have leadership qualities and I exercise leadership. I am resourceful in proposing new problems, applying principles, and making suggestions. I should be National Junior Honor Society because
As a freshman the transition was some what difficult for me. These are somethings I think would be good to new for the middle schoolers that are tranistioning into highschool. First keep organized. I can 't stress that enough because if you don 't you will lose things really easy and become a real mess. Another thing is a personal opinion but I don 't think that going to your locker every passing period is a good idea.
Mrs. Fehrman, I've always taken joy in being a leader. Having the ability to help guide someone in the right direction intrigues me. That's why I would love to have a leadership position in National Junior Honors Society. I'm specifically interested in being the president, but if I don't get it, I would love to fill another position. I promise that if given the opportunity, I will be a responsible, honest, creative, committed, positive, and productive leader.
I love a good challenge. Sometimes it’s not about the obstacles you face,
You are really smart and want to go where you can have a good education. To get a good education you would go to an all white school and to do that you have to take a test. You are one out of the six kids who passed. You are excited and nervous at the same time. You walk into your new school and you are treated dreadfully.
Finally, I am optimistic because I like to make the people around me happy too. I would love to be a part of the National Honor Junior Society because it will give me more opportunities to be a leader and participate in community services and also to help the people around me. I hope I can receive the chance to participate in this program and I have worked really hard for this opportunity so I hope you will accept this application
+ Judging your self-worth basing on your ability to achieve unrelenting standards. + Overcoming negative consequences of demanding standards, never give up even though you need to pay the huge cost. If you always think “I can’t be a perfectionist, because nothing in my life is perfect.” But being a perfectionist isn’t about things being perfect; it 's about
As I walked through Wahlert Catholic, I looked around to familiar faces and thought to myself this is the year I will put myself out there and try new things, and make new friends. Freshman Orientation, I sat in bleachers and thought to myself, What I am going to do with myself this year? To all freshman, sometimes you walk in not knowing what you may do but you will figure it out eventually. I made my decision on Golf. My freshman year, I played the JV team for the first time, before that I never played on a team.
Freshman year can be daunting, knowing that there is someone to lean on for questions and to soothe the anxiety creates a supportive relationship that makes a
Coming in as a freshman, I will be expected to follow all the rules they have for new members. Although the practices would be difficult, I know it would be rewarding to
As high school went on, the workload grew, but I also grew, so I was perfectly capable of keeping up with the work. This type of growth came rather easy to me. It was important for me to have one thing I could be confident with through all of the drama and chaos in my life. Growing in my community was not challenging thanks to the Live Algoma movement. Our community itself has experienced so much growth over the past four years, which allowed many students, including me, to grow in their community involvement as well.
My first day of high school as a freshmen in a new level of education Is what I was thinking when I woke from slumber that morning in bed. Stepping foot on the campus wasn’t even the beginning, taking the school bus in the morning is where the first taste of being a freshmen and actually starting and being an high school student. I started to get really nervous and a sense of reality hit me. Walking towards the bus stop all I see is a huge group of high school students waiting around for the bus, calm and cool as I try to stay to be I approach the waiting area not knowing what to I’m getting into.
