The New World can be navigated, and known best by those who inhabit it. Since the Patriots live, and have fought, in the colonies, they have home base, and wilderness experience advantages. They know how to use their environment to best suit their need at the time. After the battles at Lexington and Concord, when the Redcoats were retreating, minutemen shot at them from behind the cover of fences, walls, ditches, and trees. That encounter caused over 125 casualties for the British. Looking farther into the past at the French and Indian War, it shows that British officials were not taught the way of fighting the involves hiding in back of trees. The Patriots, however, learned this technique already, and can use it against the British in the coming conflict. Britain does not have the time to teach this strategy of fighting to the fresh troops arriving at the colonies, so the Patriots can hold that over their …show more content…
They believe they are right, that they deserve independence. Winning against the British will earn not just freedom, but it will earn their rights, and liberty, a whole new way of living. What the Redcoats are fighting for is to suppress the colonists’ declaration for independence, which is not so much a grand cause as the Patriot’s. The appeal of separation from Britain is a motivation, motivating the colonists to fight for a better future. With this reason, and inspiration fueling the colonists, and no obvious reward on the Redcoats side, the Patriots will work harder to achieve
American patriots support Patrick Henry in arming themselves and going to war to gain independence; hence, violence will take over the whole colonies and turn the place into a war zone. On the other hand, not only the colonists, but the American patriots as well should act more civilized and gain their independence through a more rational and peaceful agreement. Maybe a Revolutionary war is what will satisfy the colonists’ hearts. After several years of being
The American Revolution is almost like the civil war, but it happened in the late 1700s. It is split into three parts - patriots, loyalists, and neutralists - instead of two. The movie, The Patriot, is a fictional movie that shows us a couple of the battles and the life of colonials, focusing on Benjamin Martin, in South Carolina during the American Revolution. You would wonder why people really want to go for a war when they already know what the outcome is going to be. Some people were forced to fight because of the death of their family members, caused by the opponent, whereas others did not fight because they did not want to risk their families even though both of the kind of people were patriots.
This victory ultimately resulted in the patriots time to prepare for the next british assault the next
Were the Americans Patriots? I think they were, because they came to America for their own freedom. It was wrong of Britain to fight them about it, they were their own people. I think that if Britain had supported them, they would have been on better terms the Patriots would have helped them later on if they had needed it. I think people should be able to do where they want to.
A Historical Analysis of The Patriot: Comparing Known History to Movie Magic Grace Christen HIST 1250: Early America Dr. Rebecca Mancuso March 12, 2023 The Revolutionary War was a time of immense change in the United States and brought about new attitudes, perspectives, and policies, along with the creation of a new country. The fight for American independence from Britain began in 1775 at the Battle of Lexington and Concord and concluded with the colonies' freedom from Britain in 1783 (Ambuske 2018). Today, over two hundred years have passed since the conclusion of the Revolutionary War, but Americans still honor and remember the fight for American independence.
America is proving to Great Britain that they will never stop until they get what they deserve. The colonists were done with the unfair treatment handed to them and wanted a change. Joseph Warren, an American Physician who played a leading role in the early American Revolution said, “Nevertheless, to the persecution and tyranny of his cruel ministry we will not tamely submit – appealing to Heaven for the justice of our cause, we determine to die or be free” (“The Aftermath of”). American carried this type of mentality with them throughout the whole war. They were able to earn this type of mentality through the early battles at Lexington and Concord because it gave them a sense of
The colonists were justified in waging war and breaking away from Britain. This is because Britain taxed them unfairly and without their representation. Britain also was cruel and tyrannical, and did not treat them fairly. The unfair taxes that had to be paid by colonists were a good reason for them to declare their independence from Britain.
For example, James Madison and George Washington were of the republicanism view, and Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin were of democracy. The public rhetoric that motivated them was political power and freedom. On a private level, Patriots were driven by the desire to protect Americans right and equality. The Patriots are the ones who took the fight to the stronghold cities of Britain and loyalists. By June 1776, the Patriots were in control of the 13 colonies, and loyalists were without the power to match them (Miller 87).
The Revolutionary war was massively revolutionary for the American colonies. After the war, many people’s lives were changed from horrible to somewhat better, even if it took 100 years like how women got their equal rights to men in 1920 (Document 8), how African Americans were all free and not slaves in 1865 (Document 5), how American Indians wern’t getting attacked anymore (Document 9), and how the richest people in the country became equal to some of the poorest people in the country in rights and in wealth(Document 2,3,4). This really impacted many lives for everyone and this all was changed or influenced by the outcome of the Revolutionary war. The lives of the people wasn’t the only thing that changed, but the politicians have changed
The American Revolution brought about triumph of the United States, but the success of the country wasn't always so sure and the need for liberty didn’t seem easily as attainable as the people at the time thought it would be. The only thing that was standing in the way of the colonist was the most powerful army in the world; but the feeling to be free, to be independent, and to be its own powerful country was what fueled these men. In 1775 battles between colonists and representatives of the British power intensified and in order to calm things down of what the King thought was a meaningless rebellion, he sent Red Coats from the British Army. In spite of their efforts, days and months went. The Red Coats and the King saw the colonists strength, their courage and their determination.
The American Revolution was a time period where there were 13 colonies in America exploring more of the land everyday, The british shared the land with people who are called the pilgrims and ended up soon turning into Patriots and after that Americans. Great Britain started abusing their colonists while there were shootings and many taxes of colonists, many were unfair, and this led to the revolution. This war was between The Patriot/Americans against the British/Loyalists. The revolution happened because a few major events in history took place in Boston others will say it as British Territory.
really wanted to gain independence from Great Britain. There were some people in the U.S. called loyalist that wanted to live under the tyranny of Great Britain and had no problems with the raising of taxes to support their country. The Patriots on the other hand were very much against all that the British stood for. The battle of Lexington and Concord, the battle of Trenton, and the battle of Yorktown were three key battles won by the U.S. that pushed the outcome of the war in the favor of the United States. The battle of Yorktown was the most significant it was the last major battle on land and with the surrender of Lord Charles Cornwallis it was very pivotal in the defeat of the British.

This is often seen as the final measure for the colonist and a rebellion begins to mount. General Thomas Gage, who was occupying Boston at the time, meant to march into Concord and suppress a rebel group known as The Minutemen. However, the British battalion was spotted during their march which allowed Paul Revere, William Dawes and Doctor Samuel Prescott of the Minutemen to warn Lexington and Concord to prepare for war. A small group of colonist intercepted the British forces in Lexington and stood their ground. This was the first battle of the American Revolutionary war and allowed for the larger colonial forces in Concord to assemble and begin the
Revolutionary War Essay By: Devin O’Neill I believe that the colonists should be held responsible for firing the first shot of the revolutionary war. I settled my opinion on this, because the colonists were the angriest prior to the battle between the two groups. The British had been dominating, and left the colonists to suffer. It gives the Colonists a reason to fire first.
