A video game is created by electronically manipulating images produced by a computer program on a television screen or other display screen. Most video games are considered an educational art form and are a great part of today’s culture. The United States Supreme Court ruled in favor of the classification of video games as art in 2011, and even the French Minister of culture, Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres, supported the recognition of video games as an art form in 2006. Despite being initially introduced as a form of entertainment, video games play an important role in popular culture as well as education and entertainment. However, many people argue that video games cause violence in adolescents and young children.
Video Games and Crime Do violent video games make people want to hurt other people in real life? Are they making kids commit crimes? Do they put children in danger? Video games can be violent but, they do sometimes make people want to hurt other people also for a lot of people they play these video games because they just like to play the game and have fun. Video games potentially can make people want to hurt others but most around 90% of people play video games just to have fun.
As article 1 mentions, "Playing video games as a form of entertainment can help a child relax" (P. 3). On the other hand, opposers question the stress-reducing nature of video games. A major point they discuss is that "...games actually increase aggressive thoughts and behavior" (Article 2, P. 4). Many parents and older alduts are concerned that children may become more violent as they age when exposed to many of the popular violent video games out there. However, the reality is that "most youths fully understand the difference between fantasy and reality" (Article 1, P. 3).
Parents and teachers have to display and carry out their life in such a way that they want their children to follow. Children look up to such people and tend to follow their footsteps if they see that their parents or teachers are living and leading a respectable life. Social learning theory is a theory that attempts and aims to explain the purpose of socialization and the effect of such things on the development of individual young people. There are many different theories that explain the concept of socialization. Some of these theories are psychoanalytic theory, conflict theory and symbolic interaction.
Gunfire and screaming people are a few of the common noises that can be heard in gang filled neighborhoods. Gangs are one of the leading causes of violence among teens with very little positive possible outcomes. Negative family situations cause gang involvement because they are looking for a sense of belonging, a way to make money, and peer pressure. One of the main reasons children get involved with gangs is because they want to feel a sense of belonging. They feel that being in a gang offers a way to gain attention or status among their peers.
In recent years, people have introduced many new forms of entertainment; one of the most popular forms of entertainment is video games. Today the people in the world spend most of their time playing video games. These are fun engaging and young people feel like playing games in their spare time. Moreover, video games are enjoyable, fun and entertaining activities we can do in today’s world, even though they are expensive. Several people argue video games are bad for children because such games provide aggressive behavior, on the other hand many people says that these games are good because they give you to express feeling and improve decisions making skill.
Groups also are the perfect environment to practice social skills building and allow children to build a social network. Another benefit of group counseling is that children learn to cope with their disabilities and the limitation that accompany it. There has also been a push within the school to integrate students with disabilities into the general population, hence it’s necessary to help them become adjusted to their environment. Adolescence is a critical time within children social lives, according to Givon and Court (2003). It is suggested that the earlier intervention will become well- adjusted and socially competent individuals.
I found that their actions are often influenced by other peoples’ action, as they adapt to how people react to certain situations and learn to act in a similar way. For example, from personal understandings, being around spiritual people helps you to value yourself and see yourself as a unique person. Building a healthy relationship that allows you to embrace yourself as who you change the way you treat others in diverse ways. Within my capabilities, I have established in supporting others through my learning. This resulted in improving my confidence in talking to people and showing myself how I value my self and others around me.
Parents and society have to take part together to be a listening partner to the young generation and be a motivator in order to increase their moral and confidence. “ When you have positive communication in your family, it helps everybody feel understood, respected and valued, and this strengthens your relationships” (Good Family Relationships : How To Build Them, 2017).
