4. Degradation of habitats

Big cats need secure and disturbance-free habitat to maintain a viable population. But haphazard development activities in the landscape of the protected areas (PAs) pose big threat to tigers. For instance, Buxa Tiger Reserve is one place, which is in the midst of a high density of human population and faces heavy pressure from people living in and around it.
This is very necessary and urgent that the people living in the villages situated in and around core of PAs should be resettled somewhere else. Government of India has declared it will resettle around 50,000 families from 762 villages in the core areas of 39 tiger reserves in the country, but the pace of the process is very slow.

According to Interpol, illegal wildlife trade could be valued at $32 billion and is one of the fastest growing trades in the world.

6. Man-animal conflict
As humans move deeper into forests, for grazing and felling trees, chances of conflict between both sides’ increases by multiple folds. Men and livestock are often attacked due to this proximity, which further infuriates the villagers who resort to revenge killing.

3. AIM AND OBJECTIVES
AIM: To minimize the Interference to the wildlife ecosystem by introducing guidelines for the materials and construction technologies in critical ecological zones.
Objectives
• Assess the damage done by tourism infrastructure in critical ecological zones.
• Provide alternative building techniques that are less damaging to the forests
• Selection of building systems based on the behaviorisms of the Tiger population.
4. SCOPE OF STUDY
This study is limited to Habitat Fragmentation and degradation due to built structures .The Human Animal Conflicts is extensively studied in this research.The focus will be on the suitable and sustainable building materials for these specified Ecologically critical zones.
