In this essay I will be investigating on the illegal trade of wildlife. In order to do this I will firstly consider the perspective of Hong Kong. I will also investigate what is currently happening in the world, and finally I will explore the significance of this issue on myself and my family. This is a very important discussion because this trade industry is hugely popular around the world and is affecting the environment and many animals all over the globe so I thought this would be a good topic to look at through a global, national and personal perspective and research more deeply into. Although, the conservation of wildlife exists, they are often not very effective and the illegal trading of wildlife still continues. I believe wildlife trafficking is an unsuitable practice that leads to the extinction of wildlife and the destruction of ecosystems. At the same time, the trade of wildlife does provide a source of income for some people. The threat of wildlife trafficking isn’t just the deficiency of species; it also causes accidental killings of non-targeted species, interruption of nature and then causing habitat loss. This issue affects me since I live in a country where wildlife trading is quite popular and not many people notice this area of wildlife trading and how it has an impact on the environment around us. I have been brought up in Hong Kong and wildlife trade has been going on for decades now. A number of shops and stores sell wildlife products. My role within this issue is to help share the importance of this issue. My research has definitely influenced my perspectives on this issue and how I understand the trading industry. It has also shown me that despite organisations aiming to protect the wildlife, it all comes down to countries cooperating together to generate
