Ethical Codes “I’m Hungry, mom”. These were my words when I was a 13-year-old boy. My mother was down to her last 10 dollars and all I could think about was my own desire for sweet and sour chicken. A worn down beaten looking man walked pass us as we were leaving the super market and asked if we could spare any change, my mother didn’t have any, only that 10-dollar bill. She gave him the rest of our money and with it, my sweet and sour chicken that I was honestly only craving, not really hungry for. His face lit up with joy while I Selfishly, said “Mom! You gave him all our money, how am I going to eat now”? Despite having plenty of food at home I was upset that I would no longer be able to purchase my Chinese food. My Mother stated, “don’t …show more content…
Example, a waitress handing me my to go order tells me I’m free to go, yet I know that I haven’t paid my bill. Another example FedEx delivers a package to my home, knowing it is not mine I will not accept it. I will however accept a large sum of money if it were from a corporation or person of great wealth or take tickets to a game that will go unused and wasted.
I will not steal if it was by my own doing intentionally or unintentionally. Example, walking out of the store with a case of water unpaid for or forgetting to pay a friend back who has forgotten about the return.
Harming ethical codes;
“Physical harming is the use of or threat to use violence against another person” (pg 23) as a person of character and ethics we must wake up to innocent harming by “recognizing which of our actions put others in harm’s way” (pg23).
I will not support the harming of innocent people or be blindly led to do so. I am in the military and I must trust that we are serving justice to unruly and wicked individuals.
I will not turn a blind eye when I see someone being harmed physically or verbally. I will do my best to immediately stop the situation whether it being bodily abuse or verbal conflict especially when pertaining to race, gender, sexuality, or any type of
The dictionary even defines violence as physical acts to harm another. Physical violence occurs everywhere, even in schools and homes. Violence is normalized in America, so much so that “wife-beater” is a common term used to describe white tank tops. Americans use this term so lightly that they forget the toxicity of its meaning. By using this term, Americans are unknowingly promoting a culture where wife-beating is accepted and fashionable.
The question I am appreciating the most is Why does pricing become a problem when it comes to farming and our farmers. When analyzing who my audience is, I immediately think diversity. Although my class is a freshman English course, we all differ in age, gender, color, and interest. We are brought together due to our topic of class, which is food. But, when separate we have different takes on food.
This relates to the second mistake I find in Rachel's case: He takes the definition of harm for granted. This is a purely moral debate, and, as moderns, we have to agree on the possibility of reaching different conclusions. Still, several things should be asserted before we decide on anything else. First, that when we act it is silly to believe that morals don't play a part ex-ante. This is because, independently of whether you believe moral truth is transcendent or simply an historical construct, it is always present in our minds and defines the way we consider an issue.
It is a sad day in our great American nation that I must speak about the unjust, that is present in our current demographic situation. We need a SOLUTION. Our citizens are starving, they are leaving to other countries, while turning their backs to the nation that grew them. Gold diggers are walking around our GREAT NATION with children just trailing behind them looking for handouts in food stamps. People across the entire globe look to this great nation for support with hunger, a problem that is most easily solved through the addition of a new nourishment to the global menu.
I was so angry, All I had asked for was a Denver Bronco jacket. My mom said. “No!” I said “Why?” I still do not know why she said no, I was only asking because it was my own money.
Specifically, there is not a right or wrong factor to intentionally cause harm to others; in a way, harmful punishments are sometimes reasonable. The doctrine simply says that certain ‘harms’ will never be considered, though said harms may be allowed as side punishments of certain actions; ‘collateral damage’.
In today society, people tend to get hurt twenty-four seven intentionally or unintentionally. Getting hurt helps you learn from your mistakes such as a child learns not to put his/her finger into an electrical output or playing with fire. Though throughout the years growing up, we as adults already know what’s wrong and what’s right, but not everyone is the same physically and mentally. Intentional Injury means to harm yourself or others purposely and some major risk factors for intentional injuries is access to firearms, alcohol abuse, drug abuse or mental illness. For example, between the ages of 15-24 there is a low rate of unintentional incidents, and high rates homicide and suicide incidents.
One occasion where I believe I used all the principles of ethics is at the health fair for low income families described above. • Beneficence: this principle of ethics charges the practitioner to ‘do good,’ my actions with this person and other participants at the health fair was do good by providing them with health services such as free blood pressure, and glucose screening including providing education. • Maleficence: The priority of this ethical principle is to ‘do no harm.’ After screening this participant and was told by my colleague that he has dangerously elevated blood pressure, and glucose, I quickly discussed with the patients that he needs to seek medical attention immediately; however, he did not have money or insurance, and he said he will be better since he can’t afford to seek medical care. Being faced with the options of him suffering complication based on his screening result, and his inability to pay for the care, I advise that we chose the least harmful option of seeking medical attention even if he is unable to pay
Domestic violence in this world begins with physical and mental abuse. However, sexual aggressiveness falls under this category because someone is forcing another individual to perform sexual activity without their consent. Domestic violence is a subject that does not need to be ignored, and most individuals does not know a lot of information pertaining physical or mental abuse. While everyday reports about abuse has taken over the world and the lives of victims, many people are not aware of who are abuse, the struggles that they face, and the humiliation associated with being abused. Children have been found beaten, sexually assaulted, or verbally abused.
Concepts within ethics can be applied in our everyday life. As ‘primitive beings’ we rely on social interactions to guide (knowledge - Right or Wrong) us in our exponential growth with regard to morals and/or values. In the following three scenarios; Melanie Shorr, the protagonist finds herself under situations that fall under the branch of Normative Ethics. In all three encounters, Shorr is devalued as both a customer and member of society. From Holt Renfrew to the Varsity Movie Theater, the main ethical concept that can be applied to all encounters is the Social Contract Ethics.
Other types of harm include objects or weapons to injure the child. Most of the time, physical abuse goes undetected because it is hard to point out. Children often get hurt and parents or other adults often make up excuses of what
Huang (2001) said that these codes are crucial for public relations to be granted a status as a bona-fide profession. The codes strive to give guidance to public relation practitioners in order to help them to act in a practical and professional manner. However even though these codes are fashioned to satisfy universal conditions and principles (Kruckeberg, 1993), many scholars like (Parkinson, 2001; Wright, 1993) voiced out their opinion that the codes fall short of the ideas promoted in the codes, or even being internally conflicting. Many other practitioners have also voiced their opinion that the code of ethics is too vague to be useful, and that it does not give enough specifications (Bowen,
First, before I start this analysis, I would like to provide definitions of the theories and perspective, I am about to mention in this paper. Starting with the first dominant ethical theory, utilitarianism that states that your set of actions right or wrong evaluated through morality that can produce their own consequences. For example, the moral theory focuses on the consequences of the action of the United States dropping the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War 2. Henceforth, the action, as a result, the United States dropping the atomic bomb nearly wiped out Japanese towns ' populations entirely causing to end Japan’s quest for world domination. Next, the second dominant ethical theory, deontology that states the right
The individuals who investigated this study looked at the frequencies. Causes, and circumstances surrounding sexual violence among the military personnel and searched for common characteristics displayed. A high frequency of physical sexual violence and a high level of repetition was found. 81.7% of the perpetrators had also been victimized at one point. The soldiers minimized sexual violence and preferred not to address any implications of the matter at hand if possible and criticized or ignored the victims and did not trust the reporting procedures.
