Group strengths and abilities need to be taken into consideration for an organization to take decisions. When a decision has to be made on a managerial position, everything is dependent on the group thinking. Group thinking is a rare occurrence where a group has to narrow down to a general agreement, were not all people of the group generally agree to the conclusion. Group thinking reverses a decision of people’s common sense and desire to present alternatives and many a times the discussion ends with an unpopular opinion. Here, the longing for gathering attachment successfully drives out great choice making and critical thinking. (Anon, 2016). The advantages of groupthink are that more knowledge and information is shared and all have a greater understanding of the decision as all the topics towards the conclusion are discussed. On the other hand, the disadvantages are that there is a constant pressure on all individuals to fit in the group. Group members also have to deal with domination of the group by one bullish member and to top it up, groupthink is a genuinely very time consuming.
