Flora is the plant life occurring in a particular region or time, generally the naturally occurring or indigenous plants. Flora comes from the Latin name of “Flora”, the goddess of plants, flowers, fertility in Roman Mythology.

Flora, fauna and other forms of life such as fungi are collectively referred to as biota.Bacterial organisms, algae and other organisms are sometimes referred to as flora, so that for example the terms bacterial flora and plant flora are used separately.

Human interventions such as deforestation, urbanization, industrialization and other anthropogenic intervene has led to the loss of rich biodiversity in our mother earth. Many species of plants are overlooked upon as weeds, because of human ignorance on their importance in this complex network of life.

Sub-tribe : A further division, based on even smaller botanical differences.

Genus : This is the part of the plant name that is most familiar, the normal name that you give to a plant.

Species : This is the level that defines an individual pant.

Variety : A variety is a plant that is only slightly different from the species plant the differences are significant.

Form : A form is a plant within a species that has minor botanical differences.

Cultivar : A cultivar is a cultivated variety.
