Nature of the Study
A case study research design was used to explore the internal communication and learning processes of members in small consulting organizations, specifically with regard to the presence and use of virtual communities of practice. Communication effectiveness, as explained to the interview participants, is the ability of members to communicate and learn with each other without unnecessary delays (Coates, 2008).
Effectiveness was evaluated based on the unique perceptions and opinions of the study participants.
A case study research design was appropriate because the design allows flexibility in the collection of multiple types of data (Yin, 2010). To triangulate the data, data were collected from administrators and employees. The case study design was developed from data provided in the interviews of company personnel through semistructured interviews. Other qualitative research designs received consideration but were rejected because case study research allows for an in-depth examination of a single real-world problem through triangulating data from various groups of participants with varying viewpoints.

Ethnographic research is typically used in sociological research where the social backgrounds of the participants are critical to the study. Ethnographic research was not appropriate for this study because the experiences of an ethnically or socially homogenous population were not under examination. Rather, the focus was on exploring the experiences and perceptions of a mixed group of employees and administrators in small consulting organizations, regardless of their ethnic or social

Ethnographic research reveals that in the social network Facebook the users real life identity tends to change and be reflected differently through their digital identity. These changes in an individual's identity can be seen by looking at examples of behavioral characteristics. In this analysis we will focus our research on the characteristics of the users fame, how they portray their lives and dishonesty. We have all heard the common saying that having fame and money changes people, but does this fame also change an individual's digital identity? When looking at celebrities Facebook accounts we can see that the content often appears to be filtered and deemed more appropriate to its viewers.
In ‘Institutional Ethnography…’ by Janet M. Rankin and Marie Campbell, an analysis is completed on the institutional ethnography of nurses’ work in Canadian hospitals. Health care policymakers and administrators are currently implementing an updated system that will promote the efficient use of resources and delivery of care. However, the analysis finds that the organization of efficiency competes with the nurses’ professional judgment while standardizing nurses’ decision making process, delivery of care, and knowledge.
We were in Palm Spring on the weekend of November 21 for the swim meet. For my Ethnographic Project, I decided to interview one of my daughter’s swim friend’s mom and my friend, Linyun. We talked about it before and the meet was the best place for this interview. She is approximately 45 years old lady, married with an Indian-American guy. Her back round of culture is Chinese and she is from Taiwan.
5. CONTEXT. Where did the study take place? Describe important characteristics.
According to the textbook face validity is, “the extent to which an instrument appears to measure what it says it measures”. After reviewing the National Ambulatory Medical Care Survey (NAMCS) and the NAMCS Electronic Medical Record Supplement Survey, the surveys both meet the definition of face validity. Content validity, according to textbook is, “the rigorous determination that the instrument represents all relevant aspects of a topic”. The NAMCS, for the most part, meets the definition of content validity. On page 3, question number 9a and 9b needs to be re-sequenced.
This does not exclude a quantitative approach being associated with a post-positivist approach. In contrast, for a researcher who favors interpretive, knowledge is a matter of interpretation (Schutt, 2009) so that the quest for understanding the complex world of lived experience demands that the researcher interact with the research objects/participants to get the viewpoint. The investigator favored a post-positivist approach since he believes that human knowledge can be challenged and modified in light of further investigation. Following is a description of the methodology that was followed for this

ANTH150 Mini Essay 2: Fieldwork Observation Word Count: 734 I conducted my ethnographic observations over the course of a few days. During my fieldwork observation, I recorded observations of customer behaviour, the general layout of the restaurant, culture significance, and décor. Siam Corner is located in Rouse Hill on Resolution Place. The digital age of man has allowed individuals of all backgrounds to record and capture millions of once-in-a-lifetime memories with the ability to be copied, shared, and accessed by innumerable numbers of people worldwide. Snapshots of birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, and vacations can now all be stored in online databases such as iCloud or Photobucket. The drive to retain information has surpassed the abilities of the human mind and leapt into the need to record every experience worth remembering. The problem occurs when the interference of a phone or a video-recording device takes away from the experience itself. Before the age of social media and the internet, the ability to share photos or videos was limited.
Most informal communication at the workplace takes place through these relaxed tools (Cross, 2002). Some times free and open discussions play an important role for productivity as creative energies are released better in an informal environment. Particularly during the process of knowledge management, skills are transferred effectively and management of knowledge becomes easier through the use of Social Media Applications like WhatsApp. This phenomenon can lead to behaviors that are discretionary and spontaneous that allows continuous scope for experimentation. The information shared through these informal networks is essential to organizational effectiveness.
Ethnography is the study of social interactions, behaviours, and perceptions that occur within groups, teams, organisations, and communities. The central aim of ethnography is to provide rich, holistic insights into people’s views and actions. (Reeves et al, 2017). The term ethnography has come to be equated with virtually any qualitative research project where the intent is to provide a detailed, in-depth description of everyday life and practice. Qualitative research can be described as social science research in comparison to quantitative research is statistically orientated research (Hoey, 2017).
Communities deliberately seek to expand the internal and external resources and experts available to individuals. 4. Knowledge management: Communities steward the knowledge in their domain with a view toward solving problems that have not yet been discovered. Maximising communities impact Traditionally, organizations paid little attention to the operations of communities because they saw participation in them as a marginal activity, intended to benefit the members and not necessarily the company. But our research reveals that companies can increase the operational effectiveness of communities in four
