Eutectoid Microstructures / Metallography Report Deepti Chintalapudi, Industrial and Systems Engineering Materials Science Lab, Section #11 10/25/2015 Group Members : (This lab was done collectively by all students present on 10/21/2015) Abstract The goal of this lab was to understand the differences in microstructures of steels in the vicinity of the Eutectoid reaction in the Iron – Iron Carbide (Fe3C) phase diagram and to reconcile micro- structural observations & analysis with theoretical calculations. We started the procedure by first preparing three specimens for the experiment i.e. “Black” 1018 steel (0.18 %w/w C), “Green” 1045 steel (0.45 %w/w C), and “Red” 1095 steel (0.95 %w/w C). We first cut the specimens using the Leco CM15 CutOff machine. The specimens were then mounted using the Buehler Simplimet 2 Mounting Press machine. Then, the specimens were polished using the Buhler grinder and Struers TegraPol + grinder. Finally, each specimen was etched and then observed under a microscope. From the observations, it was noticed that the Black specimen had significantly more pro-eutectoid ferrite than pearlite; the Green specimen had lesser pearlite than pro- eutectoid ferrite; and the Red specimen had more pearlite than pro- eutectoid ferrite. Inverse Lever Law calculations were then done and the calculated and assumed microconstutuent abundance values were compared. The objectives of the lab were thus met. …show more content…

Socrates’ position towards the authorities was inconsistent in The Euthyphro and The Crito. He questioned the authority in The Euthyphro but defended and obeyed it in The Crito. In The Euthyphro, Socrates had a dialog with Euthyphro who claimed to be an expert on the subjects such as holiness, Gods, piety, justice, etc. Socrates began his philosophical debate by asking Euthyphro to define piety and impiety.
Project Title: Personal Injury Attorney in Tavares, Florida Tavares, FL | America’s Seaplane City Tavares (pronounced as ‘tuh-vair-ees’) is a city located in central Florida, Lake County, USA. It was incorporated in 1880. The city was founded by Alexander St. Clair–Abrams, who was a part of the journalism and rail industry. Tavares’ infrastructure started with the establishment of a post office in 1883.
A spectroscopy curve was produced of the acid and the absorbance of the unknown mineral could be obtained in order to find what that unknown copper is. Through these methods there is not preferred method when it comes to finding the percentage of an unknown substance, but which is more effective in accurately depicting what that unknown substance is. Standard deviation plays a major part in this experiment to help balance out and find the mean of the unknown substance to help constitute what it is. Through this the difference between smelting and roasting is that one produces a metal from its ore and the other drices off the carbon to obtain an
The rocks are pebble to cobble sized basalt fragments. The samples collected ranged from 50mm to 120 mm. The rocks are angular. They have a gray, very fine ground mass. Fine plagioclase feldspars are visible throughout the ground mass and sparkle in the sunlight.

The minerals were not obvious in hand sample so further mineralogical analysis would likely be needed to recognize the accessory minerals. The Cordell unit is difficult to distinguish in the field from the lower Engadine unit, the Rockview, due to the high degree of dolomitization and recrystallization. However, unlike the Rockview, the Cordell member is more thinly bedded and fossiliferous and lacks algal mats. The bottom of the Rockview dolostones appear to weather to a lighter color than that of the exposed Cordell and is considered

Jason Iloulian Professor Farley First Paper Oct 26-2015 Is Socratesʼ position consistent between The Euthyphro and The Crito? Does he display the same attitude towards authority in each dialogue? The Crito is a story that Plato tells that involves the last days of Socrates while the Euthyphro involves the story that relates to Socrates trial and defense; before his ultimate judgment and death. Each story contains many consistencies.
The can be seen when iron is coated in zinc. This process is efficient by comes with the prices of losing the zinc due to the fact that the zinc will oxidizes instead of the iron
Its composition consists of Half Dome Granodiorite, which consists of quartz, feldspar, hornblende, and
The purpose of this experiment was to learn about the electrophilic aromatic substitution reactions that take place on benzene, and how the presence of substituents in the ring affect the orientation of the incoming electrophile. Using acetanilide, as the starting material, glacial acetic acid, sulfuric acid, and nitric acid were mixed and stirred to produce p-nitroacetanilide. In a 125 mL Erlenmeyer flask, 3.305 g of acetanilide were allowed to mix with 5.0 mL of glacial acetic acid. This mixture was warmed in a hot plate with constantly stirring at a lukewarm temperature so as to avoid excess heating. If this happens, the mixture boils and it would be necessary to start the experiment all over again.
The four test specimens are all made from cold drawn steel. When steel is cold drawn, the crystal structure changes and creates stress. The stress in the grains can be reduced by the process of annealing. Quenching creates small stresses because carbon does not have time to escape. The annealing process is when
On Wednesday September 23rd, I attended Hispanic Heritage Month Honoring Latina, Hispanic, and Latin American Women. During this presentation the documentary “No más bebés” was played and then a discussion followed. Dr. Julia McReynolds-Pérez (UW-L Department of Sociology) and Dr. Omar Granados (UW-L Department of Modern Languages) led the discussion. The documentary focused on an investigation of the sterilization of Mexican American Women at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center during the 1960s and 1970s.
Ideally, controlling the quenching process by changing the heat boundaries to minimize the distortion with the additional aim of satisfying residual stress and surface hardness distribution. (Heat treating) This experiment will be conducted on quenched, zinc coated steels. Knowledge of the phases of the carbon steels and knowing the properties of the different steels can be very beneficial in manipulating the heat treatment process to best suit what is desired. There are several impacts that should be noted about quenching a material.
The final product weight for percent yield was only the solid E product, which missed one half of the final product produce. If both products were weight, the percent yield would have been larger that it was. Instead of 22.33%, it could have been 44.66%. To prove that both products were obtained, but only one of the two products was analyze, a TLC plate of the DCM layer, that contains both products, and of the final product, was obtain.
