Moses was a character based in the old testament but is mentioned in the new testament more times than any other old testament character. During Moses’s time the population of
Israelites had become an increasing threat to the Egyptians. To solve this problem the Pharaoh ordered all of the newborn male children to be sent into the nile to drown. Moses’s parents had placed him in a waterproof basket and hid him so that he would not drown while his sister watched him from a nearby area. The pharaoh's daughter found moses in the water when she heard him crying and rescued him from the water. She named him moses simply because it means “drawn from the water”. The pharaoh's

Due to his uncontrollable anger Moses killed the Egyptian and ran away to the desert of median. When
Moses encountered God he was passing a burning bush that was remarkably not turning to ash.
Moses heard a voice from within the bush telling him that he is going to lead the hebrew people out of slavery. Eventually Moses lead the people out of slavery and began to pursue to build a new nation. On their journey numerous amount of miracles happened. The red sea parted, food was supplied, drinking water came out of rocks. Moses was subject to religious persecution and even though all odds were against him he still endlessly pursued the call of God on his life. His enemies chased him his followers wanted to give up and turn around Moses honestly was a blind man walking he was walking his people into the unknown. He left all of the riches and pleasures of sin to pursue God not knowing where it would take him. He walked through discomfort, pain, loss, and even misery because he believed so strongly that his God given purpose was worth the fight. Moses is a crucial character to the bible because of how strong his faith was, it is

Much like when Jesus washed the disciples feet Jesus didn’t make Himself higher or equal to people
He lowered Himself below them. He sought out to serve the people and help those to the kingdom of heaven. Moses brought himself below the hebrew people he came to serve them and help them out of slavery no matter what the cost. Moses gave his entire life to God's call just as Jesus did when He died on the cross for us. Faith is formed in trusting in what you may not see. The message that Moses and many others bring to the new testament is walking to the unknown with complete confidence that God will guide your steps when you walk in obedience to His word. Hebrews 11 says that “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see”. Moses had a lot of hopes, he hoped to be reunited with his family, he hoped to see the hebrew people saved, and he hoped that he would help people know of his God. and so he walked and when the walls caved in and when his enemies attacked he continued to walk. Hebrews chapter 11 speaks of many apostles and characters who by walking into the unknown with faith experienced the faithfulness and miracles of God. Today we hope to
As previously mentioned in the previous chapter regarding the life of Moses, sometime around 1446BC, he goes to discuss with the Pharaoh the release of the Israelites from slavery. The Pharaoh refuses to release the Israelites, consquently, God releases ten plagues onto Egypt to force the Pharaoh to let the Israelites leave Egypt. The ten plagues consisted of water into blood, frogs, lice, swarm of flies, diseased livestock, men and animals will break out with boils, thunderstorm of hail and fire, locusts, three days of darkness and death of all first-born son and daughters. The Pharaoh finally consents to the Israelites leaving Egypt allowing Moses to organize the Israelites and begin their 40 year journey back to Canaan, but the Pharaoh commands a group of his soldiers to chase after and kill all of the Israelites. Moses sees the approaching Egyptian army and with Gods assistance parts the Red Sea, leads the Israelites through the divided water, then after the Israelites are safe from
Moses went to the mountain to speak with God to get instructions from Him, but the Israelites sinned against God before Moses came down from the mountain. The Lord was greatly angered. And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, up make us gods, which shall go before us: for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him. Exo32v1
If his rivals could create a different god, one that favored themselves instead of Moses and was more palatable for the people, they could now become the chosen leader, and cast out Moses. This would allow them to gain control of a vast number of people, that now that Moses has done the extremely difficult work of
In the Bible as in Literature, though Moses’ belief in God is inconsistent at times, his flourishing faith is able to give him strength in becoming the leader that he now is, and having the persistence and durability to save the Israelites. Without God’s guidance and knowledge, Moses’ courage would be nonexistent. God approaches Moses, when he is in need, pleading for Moses to advise the Israelites into safety, unfortunately Moses is first low in determination for himself. In order to officially escape the Israelites out of Egypt, he needs God’s overpowering spirit to bring down destructive plagues on the vile Egyptians. At the final exit to freedom, Moses is at a dead-end, and only one man has the ability to help Moses split the waters, solely God himself.
Moses is one of the quintessential
The story of Moses is perhaps one of the most well-known stories in the Bible. Moses was chosen by God to bring his people redemption. When God came to him, and told him what he was to do, Moses tried to dissuade God from sending him. At that point he has a wife and child, he was leading a comfortable life. (Clowney, 2013, p. 91)
Aram and Jochebed already had two children, Aaron, three years old, and Miriam, about seven. Jochebed hid him in a basket along the bank of the Nile. The pharaoh’s daughter found Moses and she decided to return Moses to the family. Moses’ calling from God was to set the Israelites free from slavery. That was how Moses became a prophet, when he heard God’s calling.
They forbed the Israelites from praying to God. God was not happy about how his people were being mistreated, so assigned Moses to demand that the Pharaoh let his people go.
The death of his master clearly affected him. This is shown when the author states “finally freed himself of the ancient and brittle harness that connected him to the oldest mule his master owned”. This highlights the connection that Moses and his master had which wouldn't have been as emphasized if it was told in Moses’s point of view. This furthermore displays his thoughtful and sensitive nature of how much he cared for him and how he still thinks about
Another thing we can learn from God and Moses relationship is obedience. Moses obeyed God in everything that God told him to fulfill. When God told Moses to lead the Hebrews out of Egypt, Moses did not stop until he led the Hebrews out of Egypt.
How mighty would God’s power have looked if the rock had produced water without a finger being laid on it, but by simply speaking to it? In doing things his way, Moses took glory from God. The Father goes on to tell Moses he did not trust the Lord enough to display his holiness. In this moment, Moses was no better than the people he looked down upon. For we are to, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding…” (Proverbs 3:5).
Despite being appointed as God’s chosen liberator of the Israelites, Moses is a person incapable of effectively leading his people. Moses’s lack of charisma, confidence, and determination are his greatest flaws as a leader which are demonstrated when he initially fails to stop his fellow Hebrews from fighting. His critical flaws as a leader initiates a chain of failures that will befall the Israelites during their journey and their eventual punishment of never reaching the Promised Land. One of Moses’s greatest shortcomings as a leader is his lack of charisma. He is unable to make the people naturally follow him and his words.
In the Book of Exodus God calls Moses up into the mountains for a different reasons than that of Abraham. Scripture says, “On the third new moon after the people of Israel had gone forth out of the land of Egypt, on that day they came into the wilderness of Sinai. And when they set out from Reph′idim and came into the wilderness of Sinai, they encamped in the wilderness; and there Israel encamped before the mountain. And Moses went up to God, and the Lord called to him out of the mountain, saying, “Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob, and tell the people of Israel: You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. Now therefore, if you will obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my own possession among all peoples; for all the earth is mine, and you shall be to me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.
“The Bible: The Epic Miniseries” The story of Moses is among the most well-known stories of the Bible, yet nothing is mentioned about Moses’ childhood or teenage years. “The Bible: The Epic Miniseries” took this as an opportunity to illustrate an inferred story of how Moses came to realize his descent. While some aspects of the biblical story seep through this portion of the episode, much of it strays from the original source, adding and deleting parts that are either relevant or irrelevant to the plot of the episode.
Moses’s covenant with God can be found in the book of Exodus from chapters 1-34. The theme of this story is the journey out of Egypt. The Hebrew Israelites were enslaved by the Pharaoh Thutmose III. God heard the Hebrew Israelites’ cries and decided to go to Moses as a burning bush to call him as their liberator. Moses wasn’t a great speaker so God gave him Aaron to speak for him.
