Accusation (noun): a charge or claim that someone has done something illegal or wrong. In today’s time accusations are made all the time. It is very certain that something similar to what happened in The Crucible happens still today. Just look at today’s political election, accusations and allegations are thrown everywhere and at everyone. On both sides, one person is accusing another of some act that is usually never proven to be true or false. Accusations also appear in normal, everyday things such as divorces and crimes. It is assuredly possible that an event like The Crucible could take place today. Today’s political elections imitate the events of The Crucible closely. Currently, many accusations are being thrown back and forth between candidates and supporters on both sides. During trials, though it may not be lawful, witnesses often lie or are bribed to lie about what is true. This very act happened during The Crucible when Abigail William’s friends lied about whether or not they had seen spirits. Occasionally, these false accusations can lead to the wrong person being blamed for the crime and put into jail. This also happened in The Crucible when innocent teenage girls were put to death and blamed for witchcraft. This clearly shows that many of the events that took place during The Crucible still take place today, though with slightly different circumstances.
Many events that took place during The Crucible very well still happen in today’s times. The political elections of today’s world mirror the accusations and assumptions of The Crucible. The circumstances of divorces and crimes also are similar to events that took place. Everywhere today it seems that accusations are thrown about.
