In Fahrenheit 451, Bradbury explores how dangerous close-mindedness and censorship can be. Set in a dystopian society where everyone is closed off from the literature world, the main character must do some serious rethinking. This causes some great challenges in his life, as anyone else would. Banning a book requires a lot of thinking in general. Deciding to go against the way you were raised requires some complicated thoughts. Books previously read such as Think Again: The Power of Knowing What You Don’t Know as well as The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy explain just how hard it can be to rethink any decision. Multiple articles explain the difficulty and reasoning behind banning books in public schools. No matter what the topic may be, it …show more content…
Someone can develop the prosecutor mindset when someone starts to see flaws in the way other people think. The political mindset takes over when someone is trying to win others over. The scientist mindset appears when we finally accept what little we know. Montag often shows the preacher, prosecutor, and political mindset throughout the book. He shows examples of these as he progresses on when he is trying to flee the town. Overall rethinking is a well-developed life skill. It takes a lot of work, but it can pay off in the end if you do it right. The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams is a complicated novel. However, through extensive research, this novel is all about the act of rethinking. This book encourages people to be more open minded no matter how strange it may be. Some may not always agree on everything whether it is banning a book or deciding how someone makes their cereal in the mornings. The topic of banning a book is very controversial and requires a lot of in depth thinking. It is no simple decision. Montag had to rethink everything he thought was normal in his life because he had a change of heart. He no longer wanted to rid people of their valued literature. He realized how important reading can be and how much he could discover through a book. There was more to life than giant TVs, fire, and gossip. He had an eye opener after responding to an emotional call where an older woman did not want to part from her beloved books. This caused him to think of what was so important in these books that this woman was willing to die with them. So, he decided to go against every law he had been raised with. This decision caused him to lose his home, his wife, and almost his life. Even after everything he continued to often rethink his decisions but continued to pursue his new way of life. He decided to flee and try to find somewhere he could reprint and spread the literature. This required a ton of rethinking his way of
In the novel Fahrenheit 451, Bradbury interprets censorship in the futuristic world he created. People in this society do not think independently or have time to “smell the coffee.” “Bet I know something else you don’t. There’s dew on the grass in the morning. If you look there is also a man in the moon.”
Throughout the novel, Montag realizes the amount of censorship throughout his society and relationships. When Montag realizes the censorship
Censorship robs people of knowledge. In the time period of the book Fahrenheit 451, many books are illegal. They offend people, and make them feel uncomfortable. Some people wonder why they are censored, but it is the people who want them censored, and the government that makes the people happy.
He became so obsessed with the idea of revenge that he all but lost who he was in the beginning, leaving behind a cold, heartless man with no prosperity. Overall, both works illustrate the idea that revenge hurts both parties and is no way worth the consequences that each character had to

Censorship is a big part of Fahrenheit 451 and it affects everyone. The definition of censorship from Oxford Languages is “the suppression or prohibition of any parts of books, films, news, etc. that are considered obscene, politically unacceptable, or a threat to security”. In this book the way things are censored is by the burning of books. By burning every book written, people are unable to know the things about the past and also what fiction truly is.
People would never know what is actually right and wrong. Montag wants to change this cruel society and spread individuality, the most important characteristic anyone can have. If you have no independent thinking in society, it will become corrupt. You need leaders to have a thriving society and without different outlooks on issues it will take longer to solve the issue. So, individuality should be encouraged not viewed as a threat.

For a young man named Neil Perry, he has certain dreams for his life, but his father will do everything in his power to forbid them. In Peter Weirs “Dead Poets Society” the new English teacher, Mr. Keating bases his class around Transecendental ideals.

He warns them and plays with their emotions as the novel begins. Douglas gives the feelings as if he is the author and that once the novel ends so

Throughout the novel, there are various instances where the readers see his virtue shine through the evil. At times, he becomes not only concerned about preserving his outside physicality but also his inner good. The ongoing pursuit of pleasures led him to a unyielding and uncivilized state.
