Imagine a world where having an education is strictly forbidden and leisurely walking down the street can be extremely dangerous. In Afghanistan, this world is the reality for many people on a daily basis as they are putting up with the repressive Taliban government. The Taliban rose to power in the 1990s as extremist, therefore those who tried to speak out against their corrupt doings were suppressed by violent means. In heavy Taliban controlled areas, more women than men are discriminated against as they are severely dominated. Women such as Malala Yousafzai, suffered from the ruthless acts of their government but never buckled under the weight by protesting wit peaceful demonstrations. Civil disobedience is kept a constant as a way to protest against the Taliban and was resulted more positively in contrast by other manners. However, another prevalent method that many people use against the Taliban government is through violence. Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistan activist and the youngest person to receive a Nobel Prize Laureate, fought for civil rights through peaceful resistance to someday free the society from its overpowered authority.

Civil disobedience is the best way the Taliban and peaceful ways are required to make progress. Many places that are affected by the Taliban are changed through civil disobedience into a more reconciliated and equalized community. Women who are affected by the Taliban found out that education is the best way in order to overrule the Taliban. This qualifies as civil disobedience because women are using education to take down the government rather than drone strikes that the United States are implementing which increases the Taliban’s motives.
