Compassion Is Contagious: Your Kindness Can Change the World We've all been behind a difficult customer in the store. You wait in line behind them as you wonder what could possibly be wrong with them. Why would someone deliberately choose to be mean or angry? How could that person have any sense of humanity, kindness or decency? Compassion is a natural instinct, but it can be stifled when we aren't mindful about our thoughts and actions. A hectic day at work, family responsibilities or stress can cause our compassionate instinct to go haywire. Instead of trying to understand why someone might be upset or angry, we respond with anger. Unfortunately, this reaction only causes a downward spiral as the person reacts in the same manner. There have been times when I have been extremely …show more content…
If I had closed off in response to her silence, I would not have been able to support her through her husband's death. Her husband would have lost some of the spark and courage of his wife during his last days. It may have been dumb luck, but this showed me a valuable lesson about compassion and always assuming the best. Compassion and Loving-Kindness Meditation When you live in paradise, it can be hard to understand the darkness that other people go through. We are all lucky enough to live in one of the most beautiful places in the world. Hopefully, we can share that beauty with others through our kindness and compassion. Interestingly, studies show that practicing compassion can also improve your own mental and physical wellbeing. You aren't just making the world a better place by being compassionate; you are also helping yourself. To meditate on compassion, start by focusing on the person you love the most in the world. Allow that love and compassion for them to well up within you. You are similar to this person, and you just want them to find happiness. Focus on that feeling and send your warm wishes to that
Everyone desires happiness. How can we all obtain this? By being compassionate, we all have to be more self-less and show more compassion for others. What is compassion? Compassion is someone showing caring feelings or sympathy for others.

Pema Chodron formerly said, “Compassion becomes real when we recognize our shared humanity.” People need to understand what people share is what makes everybody human. If they do not understand what makes us human than they will not know how to feel sympathy or compassion. If everybody thinks about it, we all go through some of the same situations. Everybody experiences, relationships, they may lose someone in their life, people make choices everyday, people may be obliged to use their flight or fight skills in survival, they might have to think about their morals when doing something, and everybody most definitely goes through different kinds of emotions every single day.
So, even though he was finished his driveway and seemed tired. He came over and helped me for no reason other than the fact that he had compassion towards me. No matter what, no one can put a lock on your mind. Your mind, is were compassion is. Think of Anne Frank, stuck in an attic for 25 months.
Elie Wiesel was talking about compassion because he wanted to tell his story of how horrible the death camps were. He showed compassion by showing everyone the place that he had to go to and how horrible it was for him and all those people that went in there. He showed compassion by telling his story to the the world and telling everyone how bad it was yo be in the death camps. He talks about compassion in his book, he tells his whole story and how terrible it was to be in the death camps. He was a Holocaust surviver he survived all the hard work and torcher he’s had todo in the death camps.
So constantly being kind and showing those kind emotions can show your character and build a reputation that you can uphold. In his quote, Elie Wiesel stated “Even on the edge of the abyss, it is possible to dream exalted dreams of compassion.” I believe he talked about
Empathy and Values Paper There are personal concerns, physical, social, emotional, social, and family areas that will be affected because of the car accident. As a patient, I want the night nurse to effectively communicate with me by asking me questions by paraphrasing to show understanding of my concerns. My main concern as a student is regaining my ability to walk again so therefore I would want the night nurse to show empathy during my hospital stay.
Compassion is needed in situations of hard times, which is why the novel Night shows a great importance of compassion because showing kindness in the smallest way can make a big difference. To begin, Elie showed compassion towards his father. For instance, Elie stayed alive, and didn’t give into the beatings, he gave up most of his rations of food and always made sure his father came before himself. If Elie were to just give up, and go on being like the rest of the father and sons in the novel, his father would see no purpose to staying alive. Next, one of the Polish guards tell the Jews, “hell doesn’t last forever.”
Compassion plays an important role in our daily lives. It allows us to show love to others through acts of kindness. Anyone can demonstrate compassion, but true Christians show it the best. Mark 6:34 says, “When he went ashore he saw a great crowd, and he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. And he began to teach them many things.”
This begs the question: why would most religions, fables, and platitudes advocate for kindness and compassion if it robs us of success? Perhaps, as Harding put it, it is to keep people as docile rabbits and let the cruel, but strong wolves
Compassion and good intentions can often lead to the cruelest, harshest actions. Despite this, people still strive to do what is best for others and be selfless, even if it means making a decision that nobody wants to
I agree with Schopenhauer that compassion is the true and only basis of moral action because compassion is what shows what kind of people we really are and what our basis of moral actions are. In the text, “When an action is characterized by an extraordinary absence of compassion, it bears the certain stamp of the deepest depravity and loathsomeness” (Schopenhauer, 106). Our actions show our character. Compassion is what defines us and it shows others what we our morals are. It is the best way to show people what we love.
The first reason why showing compassion relates to the Golden Rule is that once you are compassionate thats the first step for getting good blessing in return. An easy example to relate this to is ordering pizza. When it comes to this job it is seen as a secondary option in the business world, it isn’t usually a first preference. So when you have those that are less fortunate to have this job you must have kind feelings towards them if delivering pizza was there only option.
In our diverse society where competition is high on the limited opportunities having personal focus is requisite for one to be successful. Having focus enables us to pursue one thing that defines rather than trying to do all things that we find interesting. My focus is to enhance my speaking skills and learn essential characteristics that make up a good leader. As a Mental Health Worker, crucial activities is not only about having common traits such as self-awareness but being able to share great ideas and set achievable objectives. Focusing on leading people effectively will have a tremendous impact on how I show compassion to myself and the patients.
I didn't tell her where we was going or why we was going. I helped her through most of her pain and this was one time i was trying to help. She was always there for me and now i'm gonna be there for her. The way i show my self expression is the way i try to help other people. Self expression is vital part of understanding life and how it works.
