In the story, it says “I reckon it never occurred to you that your brothers might be worrying their heads off…” “I turned and ran out the door and down the street as fast as I could.” This shows that Darry was very aggravated that Pony came home late because he could have been in danger. There are also many relatable characters, and everyone can relate to at least one character. Sodapop, who dropped out of high school and feels caught in the middle between Darry and Ponyboy. Darry, an older brother, gave up college and now works two jobs to keep his family together.

Ponyboy was walking home from the movies when about 5 Soc's drove up to him and jumped him.
There are comparisons and contrast in the movie and the book “The Outsiders”. For example in both when Ponyboy and Johnny run away from after killing Bob they go on the train to the abandoned church in both. They are similar because in the story and movie Johnny kills bob then runs away with Pony.
