This movie is about an important topic in philosophy: existentialism. This we see through a man’s isolation and his search for freedom. One who would disagree might say that the movie is more based off of the theory of determinism. The Shawshank Redemption is a movie about an innocent man named Andy who is wrongly convicted to life in prison for the murder of his wife and her secret lover. When he is sent to prison he gains a reputation for being a quiet, peace-loving man rather than morally corrupt like the other inmates.
