NAWAZ SHARIF H – MAD14100 POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY ESSAY A democratic state can be defined as a political entity which governs the workings of its citizens with the aid of power bestowed upon it by the same source through various modes. The government can however choose to put the welfare motive on the backseat and instead implement policies rigged by the interest of a handful of people who are economically or politically useful to satisfy their interests. The question remains how should a citizen act in reaction to this. Let’s look at a situation where their interests are negatively effected. Under such situation the person can choose to raise his voice in order to protest in the form of activism or mass movements knowing that the outcome may be uncertain yet having faith in the possibility of desired results. He is ready to undergo the various sacrifices needed and negatives that might steam from the target culprits. The person is well aware of the power of the common man in initiating change. A contrary result can be if the person accepts the outcome either as that conjured by his fate or as mode to be loyal towards the political parties they feel have superior and ultimate power over them which they may think is irreversible. It can be concluded that exit is not a feasible option in response to a government policy as there might be possibility that an individual faces the same problem wherever he goes. India is a democratic country and people have right to choose the government. If something is not going correct in the body which itself is made by the citizens of this country, rather than leaving, people should choose to stay and fight back.
