Influences The reciprocation rule says that we should try to repay, in kind, what another person has provided us. Reciprocation is when someone gives you something in value, it can be physical or psychological, and in return, you give them something back. People do this everyday, all day, and sometimes without knowing fully that they are doing it. It is one of the most powerful weapons of influence because it forces unsought debt. A real life example of reciprocation in my life happened when I was given a free plane ticket and a free place to stay in New York City for the weekend. The reason I got that was because I do lots of manual labor for a man that is unable to do manual labor work. In order for me to keep working for him he reciprocated me with a generous gift. In the book Influences, it says, if someone does you a favor you should do them a favor in return, even …show more content…
This rule states that, after making a choice or taking a side, you stick with that choice or side no matter what the circumstance. Once you have that decision made, you don’t think about any other decision ever again. This rule makes a person very stubborn. Some people go through extreme lengths to show their commitment. One way to show their commitment is when they join a gang. People will do almost anything they are told, to get in and be apart of the gang. They commit violent crimes, kill, and get beat up or jumped to prove their commitment. Once they are in the gang they show that they are consistent by getting tattoos of the logos and committing crimes on behalf of the gang. It proves their commitment and consistency to stay in the gang forever. In my own experience, I have been committed to Ole Miss Athletics. To show I’m committed, I cheer on the Rebels no matter who they play against. I am consistent because I am still a fan no matter if they are first or last, and through the good or bad times they have
The Gang has a long history in dealing with many major crimes. Some of these include; weapons trafficking, dealing with narcotics and most importantly, Murder. In 2013, police have arrested 43 gang
When involved in a gang you feel there is no way out, nobody understands your struggle and your chances of dying is 60% more than the average person. It is important to reach out to the youth and Art Rodriguez has done a great job contributing to that cause. The gang life I can relate too. In my experience and in the music that the older homies use to influence their young recruits always explain the struggle that once you are in there is no way out.
Members continue doing these acts because of the advantages they get. These advantages can range from “financial opportunity, identity status, peer pressure or just looking for fun and excitement”(pg. 40 Eghigian, Petrenko). Gangs do not want to be stopped, “ When prohibition was over they opened illegal gambling clubs and organized prostitution to make up for the loss of income from liquor. In time they began selling drugs”(pg.42 Bardem,
There is a number of reasons that range from simple to complex, on why teenagers join gangs, and we can help by finding solutions to their specific problem before they choose to join one. To help someone get out of a gang, we as a society need to show there’s more out there in the world that they could do that will make a positive impact. Teenagers have different reasons to join gangs depending on their life situation. Everyone in the “Greasers” in The Outsiders had different reasons to be part of the gang. “We were used to seeing Johnny banged up-
Also ”gangs offer protection and governance in places where established institutions fail, and that it makes sense for prisoners to join them,” (Skarbek). This is the main reason people join gangs they are forced to in order to insure their safety. The reason the leaders of the gang allow people to join and keep the safe is explained here ”Gangs can trade far more effectively than lone inmates. Prisoners listen when they threaten violence; members can ease trade from the outside after their release. Consumers, in this case buyers of drugs, benefit too.
Gangs represent themselves by symbolizing different colored bandanas for each gang, wearing baggy clothes, and mainly jeans and t-shirts. Rap music is typically associated with gangs also. Lingo of gangs can be things such as heavy use of slang, derogatory terms which are usually used to describe other gangs, and secret codes. A secret code of the largest American gang, the Bloods, is “suwoop” which is supposed to imitate the sound of a police siren. Tattoos can represent a gang too, as many will get tattoos all over their bodies that symbolize which gang they are associated with.
Genuinely, what is loyalty? One can’t even begin to interpret such a word. It’s one single seven letter word yet, it has a broad profound definition. As a matter of fact, typically one does not use loyalty until they are put to the test. Without a doubt, the test can be anything.

The gangs’ founding fathers were Irish American and were bikers. Their motto is Blood In/Blood Out meaning that you took the blood oath when you came in and they only way out is in a body bag. They made a 3 leaf clover as their brand, the brand has a death sentence by the gang for anyone
did a study and concluded that poor math scores for males and a student’s weak attachment to his or her teacher are both strong indicators that he or she will join a gang (2003). Researchers also said that youths who feel unsafe at school are also more likely to join a gang—for protection (Curry, Decker, and Egley, 2002; Decker & Curry, 2000). Schools that have a high teacher to student ration or schools that have poor academic quality can also increase the likelihood of a youth joining a gang (Curry, Decker, and Egley, 2002; Decker & Curry,
Gang violence is a growing problem in this world. No parent would like to imagine their kids dealing with weapons or being threatened by them. Introduction Juvenile delinquency due to gang relation has increased drastically. Many people fail to realize that gangs have a considerable influence on the decisions juveniles are making. Adolescents are easily influenced by the members of the gangs and manipulated to commit certain crimes. As juveniles they are not mentally and emotionally mature to make such critical decisions, which in turn allow gang members to manipulate and control the youth they recruit. Juveniles become a part of gangs for several reasons, including, gaining protection, governmental, and social issues.
They also put their pants or shorts below their behind and also like to wear baggy clothes. The gang members act tough so they won't look weak. No gang would like anyone that is weak. Looking weak in a gang shows that you are not willing to do things that higher members tell you to do. For example, MS-13 has their members killing people and selling drugs.
People don’t try the gang route when they know it could be death waiting for them right around the corner. Maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about but I know for fact the people in those gangs would betray you in a matter of seconds, and you be in a grave, or a jail cell because you wanted to be a “savage.”
Most gangs are made up of young males that are of a similar background and have a desire of acquiring
