And at times like these, self-esteem is even more vital than food’” (186). By keeping the ring for herself Rose gave up the opportunity to get food for her kids. This HURT her kids because they would have to go another day without any meals. Their mother’s beliefs and selfishness hurt them by making them not fit in, live in poverty, and starve many times. Although, all of the hardships Jeannette faced helped her not have to depend on others later in life.
This theme is subtly shown throughout the story, but becomes more apparent after the main event, the slaughter. After Date Bed is presumed missing, Mud, despite the fact that she is not of She-S blood, shows concern for her friend and adopted family member throughout the story – “It is just as well that Mud’s thoughts can’t be heard because what she is thinking is, “I’m the one who loves her. None of you loves her as I do,” and the uselessness of her love arouses her to such a pitch of anguish that she thinks of returning to the plain and searching for Date Bed on her own” (Gowdy, 105). The other She-S’s feel the same way as well – She-Snorts states, “I would not go to The Safe Place…knowing that Date Bed might still be alive and lost” (Gowdy, 249). If the She-S’s didn’t care for their family as much, they would have abandoned all thought of Date Bed and wouldn’t bother searching for her.
In my book “Parvana’s journey” the characters characteristics has changed a lot. Parvana, Asif, Hassan, and even Leila has changed. In the beginning of the book Parvana was always looking on the bright side, she thought everything will be okay but towards the end, she had lost hope. I know this because one, she had been walking to find her mother ever since her dad died but she had no luck .To add, the house she found Leila and Leila’s grandmother in had been destroyed by bombs from the planes. The grandmother died from the bombings because she couldn't walk.
During 1607-1611, early Jamestown colonists died to many reasons like starvation, occupations, and drought. Colonists did not have many resources to live a long life. That is why they died so fast through 1607-1611. Colonists died because they tried to find a new settlement for more land so they can have more resources and for a stronger defense, but instead they got attacked and there was not a lot of food there to feed them all. Colonists died by attacks by Indians.
So right after she had him, she was just preparing to die. In her mind, her life was over with. Consequently, she never formed a relationship with her last two children because she only had them for Anse, not for herself. She already had all she needed and that was Jewel and Cash. It is actually kind of sad because all of the children loved their mother so very much, but she could never love them back because of her hatred of Anse.
Katniss is portrayed as an ultimate feminist being strong and only dependent on herself, while her mother and younger sister are shown as being weaker and needing someone else to care for their needs. There is evidence of this in the scene where Katniss has just come from the reaping and is saying her goodbyes before she heads out to the capitol. In this scene with her mother and sister, Katniss is telling her mother how their food will be provided and what Prim, her sister, needs to do in order to make money for the family. Katniss also tells her mother that she can not shut down again because this time no one will be there to take care of them. This scene from a feminist lens again portrays Katniss as strong and independent while her mother is a weaker and more dependent character.

Meeting Homer Barron was her biggest change from her old self, because her father did not allow her be in any relationships, but she went out in public with Homer “driving in the yellow-wheeled buggy and the matched team of bays from the livery stable” (454). Consequently, this was only because she was living in her own reality and believed that Homer would be the one to marry her. Homer was “not a marrying man” (454) and would not marry Emily, but she refused to accept the denial of marriage from him, so she killed him to keep him with her forever. She stayed within her house to keep herself in the Old South. When she told the men to see Colonel Sartoris, she was not aware that “Colonel Sartoris had been dead for almost ten years” (452) at that point.
Blah blah blah blah, warm blood spilled from her nose and her whole body fell into pain, any normal witch would stop now but no other witch was trying to un-merge two brothers stuck into one psychos body. The spell was quickly coming to and end and though Liv felt someone was wrong she continued any way. Blackness started to set in and before she could finish the last remaining words, she fell to the floor, unconscious and unable to see what was
In the Hunger Games the only reason Katniss Everdeen was in the games was because her sister, Primrose was reaped, in other words she was randomly chosen from her district to fight to the death in the arena. Katniss took it upon herself to volunteer in her place saving her life. But what Katniss didn’t know is that she was only delaying the inevitable. At the end of Catching Fire, the second installment in the Hunger Games series, after Katniss destroys the arena dome, the capitol bombs district 12 in attempts to kill everyone there. Prim escapes with Gale and several others which hints towards Prim's death and that she can’t escape her true fate for a third time.
