In the movie The Christmas Carol, Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by three spirits. Scrooge did not like Christmas because his partner died on Christmas eve. This caused him to hate Christmas, and become a cold, hearted person. His last visit effected him in an emotional way. It changed the way he looks at the world, and has emotions for the people around him.
In the beginning of “A Christmas Carol '' Scrooge was a selfish person, he walked by the poor and did not offer anything. His only family invited him to events and he would reply in “Bah Humbug '' When his employee was starving and poor, he wouldn't be forgiving and would cut his salary even if he was late. He was a careless and selfish person and was hated by many people in his town. When his partner Jacob Marley died, he felt little for him. He was visited first by Jacob Marely’s ghost and he showed him how he would live in the afterlife if he didnt change, this didn't change Mr Scrooge.
”Scrooge changes from these traits through his experience with the ghost of the past,present,and future. When the ghost of Christmas past visits Scrooge,it shows that on pg.31 and pg.32,where talking about his past and how he should change the way he acts and saying

At the beginning of A Christmas, he goes upstairs while trimming his candle because he loved the fact that darkness was cheap. Dickens quotes “He fastened the door and walked across the hall, and up the stairs, slowly too, trimming his candle as he went, not caring a button for it being very dark. Darkness is cheap and Scrooge liked it.” After the visit of the four ghosts, he is no longer cheap but is very generous. One particular ghost I feel that helped bring out this change is the Ghost of Christmas Present because,e in the beginning, he discovers that Bob’s family is very poor because of the poor amount of money Scrooge paid them and later on he treated them with more kindness and increased the amount he pays them.
By looking back on his past makes Scrooge realize why he truly hates Christmas time. It is because his lover, Belle, left him for money. This ironically parallels Scrooge’s future with love ones. He pushes others away and even holds back money from his own family. The Ghost of Christmas Present just makes Scrooge worse, by showing that his actions are slowly killing Bob Cratchit and the rest of his family.
However, as the play progresses, Scrooge is visited by three ghosts who show him the error of his ways. The Ghost of Christmas Past takes him on a journey through his own past, showing him the events that made his character and led him down the path of selfishness. He is also teaching Scrooge about how money does not bring
In the (A Christmas Carol: Scrooge and Marley by Horovitz) Scrooge changed throughout the play Marley visit him toward Scrooge to change so that he wouldn't end up like him in big heavy chains. This ghost had lots in store for Scrooge. This first thing that Ghost of Christmas yet to come shows Scrooge was three businessmen talking about Scrooge and his death, and none of them were really phased by it. The next thing that the ghost of Christmas past showed Scrooge was crooks robbing Scrooge’s house and selling all of his belongings for money. Then, the spirit Shows Scrooge is own dead body, and Scrooge realizes that the unhappy old man that the businessmen were talking of, and the people were stealing from, was himself. Next, The spirit shows the Cratchits mourning over the death of Tiny Tim.
The ghost of Christmas present took Scrooge to a place in London where people who were less fortunate lived At a lighthouse, two men “joined hands over the rough table at which they sat, and they wished each other a Merry Christmas” (Dickens 6.1). Those people had to work on Christmas, but they made the best of it and had their own Christmas. The ghost of Christmas Present also took Scrooge to his nephew’s house. At his nephew’s house, they were playing a game and Scrooge’s nephew was thinking of something while the other had to figure out what it was. He was thinking of “a savage animal, an animal that growled and grunted sometimes, and lived in London.”
He tells scrooge the path he is taken will lead to a bad afterlife. Scrooge is later visited by three more ghosts. They each take him to show him his wrong doings, and Scrooge sees his past, present, and future Christmases. He was warned to change his actions to make his future brighter, and a better afterlife. During his time with the spirits, he learned to be a better man and respect the world he lives in.
Then, he went to his house and he received a visit from three different ghosts. One of the ghosts was from the past. The second was from the present. The third was from the future. Their purpose was to change Scrooge attitude of being selfish and not helping others with necessities.
After this, The Ghost of Christmas Present shows the mean old man what people who are part of his life are doing on Christmas Eve. Lastly, The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come leads Scrooge to a future Christmas. All these spirits had the power to change Scrooge by using memory, compassion,
When Scrooge sees the Ghost, he is scared by its frightening appearance, but he knows that the Spirit’s lessons are important. He says, “ ‘But as I know your purpose is to do me good, and as I hope to live to be another man from what I was, I am prepared to bear you company, and do it with a thankful heart’ ” (Dickens 2). In this point of the story, Scrooge wants to change and is ready learn how to change his ways. He realizes that the Ghosts’ lessons are vital if he wants to change.
