Six Sigma Quality Framework:
Six Sigma is a set of techniques and tools used for process management. Bill Smith who was an employee at Motorola in 1986. It is the most popularly used framework today in many industrial sectors. It strives to provide quality input by identifying and removing errors or defects and minimizing variability in manufacturing and business process. It uses various empirical, statistical and quality management methods and creates an expertise committee in each organization which follows this framework. For example, 1 sigma to 3 sigma is only 10 times improvement; 3 sigma to 4 sigma is a big 10 times improvement; whereas 5 sigma to 6 sigma is 1825 times change. That is why it is essential to achieve breakthrough improvements to reach such a level of maturity. Six Sigma provides a methodology to achieve this.

This involves out of the box thinking, brainstorming, significant improvement and so forth. Its main focus is stressing on ideas and thought improvements rather than physical strain. Hence six sigma framework proposes its own methodology to support its implementation. It starts by analyzing the scenarios present which are basically of two types. Primarily there is a system which works well and second there is no process at all. A defective process or which minimizes improvement is as similar to not having any process. There are two potential scenarios - First, there is already an existing process(s) that is working "reasonably" well; and second there is no process at all. A bad process is as good as no process.
