Unfortunately society is still categorizing people based on their race. As a society and as individuals we develop while growing up directions in what we think about the different races, which lead us to our own opinion what we have. They don’t realize it but behavior like that bring consequences with it. Social construction in races was created by society I recording to defend the inequality in our country. To treat a person based on their skin color differently shouldn’t be happening, but we as a society did assigned and created those different treatment/values in a person and how to interact with others. So many years after the civil right act we still have this huge inequality gap between races. Examples here are the higher incarceration
Society creates racial formations because despite the concept of race being problematic and contradictory, it plays an important role in representing social structure. We “utilize race to provide clues about who a person is” (Omi & Winant 24), and without this ability to quickly judge someone, we become discomforted. This is one of the ways racial formations are perpetuated: by stereotypes. We expect people to act a certain way based on their racial identities and are perplexed when they don’t. Religion, science, and government also sustain racial categories.
Racial Disparities Michelle Alexander, author of The New Jim Crow, points out that segregation transitioned from having to break through racial barriers to punitive laws designed to control African American communities. During the civil rights movement the unemployment rates increased among the African American population, which was the same time the population of young fifteen to twenty four year old age group spiked, results from the “baby boom” generation. (Michelle Alexander, 2010: 47) This was the reporting age group that caused crime in America according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. (Michelle Alexander, 2010)
People that are different don’t get the same education as whites for examples are black people sometimes get bullied more and are separated some people think that they are less educated then us white people but they are the same there are many races and we are all the same we may speak different and look different and that is the only thing that makes us different some of us do the same things we look the same but we are different that is like calling someone fat when they are skinny of even calling someone a different thing then they are labeling is not the way to go I see it every day and I know how much it hurts people and affects they so when you call AA black that is just a color and same with whites it is just a
The attempt for sociologist to advocate for the removal of racial categories in society would be grueling, there would be many subjects to consider. To remove racial lines is to hold every person to an equal standard. Destroying social construction which was built hundreds of years ago would in fact erase what the country was constructed on. There would be different views on taking away racial lines, being both positive and negative. How would these social changes come about in society?
The tremendous difference in wealth between the two races results from a long history of discriminatory policies and practices, such as redlining and unequal access to education and employment opportunities. Nevertheless, recent progress has been made in dismantling racism in all areas of society—for example, the passing of the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act in the U.S. The House of Representatives is one step in the right direction. However, the continued prevalence
Civil rights has progressed tremendously since the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was created. My parents grandparents told me stories of how they were treated terribly in sweatshops, and were deterred from seeing a Bruce Lee movie because of all the mocking they would receive. Thankfully, discrimination towards any type of person has rapidly deteriorated in the United States. However, it is still common and is often changing towards different groups. In the past decade, discrimination in America seems to have shifted from women and people of black skin color to Muslims and people with brown middle eastern skin color.
I believe that this is a misguided view because race does not fall so easily into set categories, there
In movies blacks and Hispanics are often the criminals, Middle eastern people are the terrorist, and females are eye candy. As an effect, society judges an entire race based on what they see in the media. Even though people have friends from different races, they still see them as they are on movies
“When you judge others , you do not define them: you define yourself” - Earl Nightingale. In a society where people are still judging other people to try to make them look good is a low blow, you know you will not be able to judge them on their actions but on something they were born with, the color of their skin or the way the look. This is why discrimination happens every day, bigots must have a scapegoat to blow all the stress they have. But in reality they are not defining the other person because those are petty words, but the bigots actions while insulting the poor man will define the bigot . Once people have learned about how to blow all the stress they have, we can almost act as one.
There are many ways to define and use the word race; however, many people use the word race as a weapon to hurt others. Ever since "scientific" research was done "proving" that one race was superior to other race has stuck around defining and grouping people. Throughout history the word race has had a major impact on society. Although many people embrace their race because it is a major part of who they are as a person, others see it as a threat to who they are and their way of life. Just as race was a problem back in 1950 it continues to be a problem in present time.
In keeping point of views like this alive in society, we are making those races that are seen as second rate, have no possibility of amplify their status. Realizing that there are no natural elements improving one race than another. Race, which prompts injustice, is basically something that is in use to establish brutalities, merciless and unforgivable treatment of persons all around the globe. Racism should be congested.
It is crazy to think that someone would look at another person of a different race and think that they are not good enough for the world only because of their skin color. One would consider this to be racism. “Racism is a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human racial groups determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to dominate others or that a racial group is inferior to the others” (Racism, Dictionary.com). Racism against African-Americans has been going on for over fifty years and is still very much alive. “Blacks, far more than whites, say black people are treated unfairly across different realms of life, from dealing with the police

Now, many people agree that it should not matter what color your skin is, but what kind of a person you are, but sadly, not everyone in the world has looked at it this way. Racist thinking is a bad habit many in the world find difficult to break. The United States has faced this problem. Many years ago, after the Civil War, African Americans were abused and mistreated by the white people.
The Sociological Perspective Individuals feel disquiet when it comes to how others view their lives. It’s not abnormal to use what we understand of society as a measuring stick to discover our own status in society. Imagine if every eye could properly use techniques found in the study of sociology before making an opinion or conclusion. Humans could start thinking on a global scale and put the theories of what they think they know to the test. Stereotypes and uneducated perspectives on race, culture, or regions of the world would then be profoundly reduced.
