The Crusades
Then Crusades are one of the biggest social injustices because of how many Muslims the Christians killed, which is estimated to be anywhere from the thousands to the millions of Muslims both armed and unarmed. In the Crusades so called “Christians” went to the Holy Land and slaughtered so many Muslims. Some simply because they were soldiers fighting back and some only because they were Muslim. Because they were scared that these people might actually switch to this religion which they considered terrible. Due to it conflicting with Christian teachings and how violent their teachings were. For example, the Muslim faith has 333 verses that are cruel or violent (roughly 5%). Such as Quran (8:12) - "I will cast terror into the hearts of those

Therefore, strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them". But this is an ironic thing to think as the Bible has 842 verses that are cruel or violent (roughly 3%). Christians feared the Muslims because of this teaching calling for war against non-believers and as a result of this teaching Muslims were killing Christians and other religions in the Middle East. So the first justification was that the Christians should retaliate and kill them in return. The second justification was that these “barbarians” had taken territory belonging to the Christians especially holy sites such as Jerusalem. So the Christians felt that this holy land should be recaptured. And the third justification was that Christ had commanded such an action. I am going to visit each of these points and prove that the social injustice of the Crusades was not justified by these points and try to provide solutions to how this social injustice
Alexius’ land including Jerusalem had been captured by Turks, and he wanted revenge. He asked for an elite force of knights to accompany his forces to recapture Jerusalem. 5) Offer THREE benefits a new Crusade had for the Christian church in the West. What does the video argue made it attractive to the Church, knights, families, and the
The crusades failed in their chief goal : the conquest of the Holy land. They also left a bitter legacy of religious hatred behind them. In the middle east, both Christians and Muslims committed appalling atrocities in the name of religion. This is important because that means that there were negative impact on the crusades. This is important because the results of that are negative, this is because muslims and Christian never agreed on the
Document 9 states that “In 1240,the Christian Crusaders sacked Constantinople, leaving the city in Ruins and plundering wealth.” This is relevant because It shows us that the violence and atrocities all of the Crusades clearly outweighed the positive and religious points of view that they say they were fighting for. Another example is that in document 10 it states that “ One day I entered the Mosaic, repeated the first Formula, ‘ Allah is great’, and stood up in the act of praying, upon which one of the Franks rushed on me got hold of me and turned my face East words saying “This is the way you should pray!” a group of Templars hastened to him seized him and pushed him away from me. I went back to my prayer.
This is relevant because people had lost their lives because they believed in certain religions. Document one states that “In Europe, crusaders sometimes turned their fury against jews, massacring entire communities.” This is interesting because When christians and muslims had gotten
Introduction: Provide background information on the Crusades, restate the DBQ question, state thesis with reasons. (include academic vocabulary and underline) The results of the Crusades was probably more negative than positive. In “Doc 4”, It states that “Moreover, the assault of one Christian people on another, when one of the goals of the Fourth Crusade was reunion of Greek and Latin churches, made the split between the Greek and Latin churches permanent.” The Crusades had a lot of hatred to the religions, and by 1204 the Crusaders had lost some of their appeal because the knights agreed to attack the Byzantine Capital instead.
The social injustice I chose is police brutality against blacks/people of color. Police officers are using excessive force, and in many cases resulting in deaths. Due to the police field being primarily white, its looked at as a racial attack on non-whites. Due to the racial difference, it looks as though communities with a high amount of colored people are being targeted to brutalize, harass, and be murdered by police. There are reports with evidence of police killing, and issuing beatings that are uncalled for in cases, such as traffic stops, pools, etc.
The reason my position hasn 't changed on why the crusades where not justified is as followed. The amount of men and resources used for such little success was not justified, because they should have stopped after the second and third crusaded. The crusades could have been more peaceful, could have accepted pilgrimage or discuss a peace treaty. War should have been last
The Crusades were successful failures because they did not meet many of their goals, but left lasting effects. The Crusades was an attempt by the Roman Catholic Church to regain the Holy Lands from the Muslims. They believed they were fighting for god and all sins would be forgiven and defend the Byzantine Empire from the Turks. The first Crusade (1096 -1099) was successful for the Christians because they had a clear and organized religious based purpose. Crusaders the Christian armies were able to hold Jerusalem and in the process led to a massacre of Jews.
The crusades affected trade in Europe. The way trade got affected was the bad causes that came because of the crusades. During one of the crusade wars, Europe 's good were affected during the wars, because after them, the were running low on merchandise and products. So not only was this bad for merchants, but it was bad for the townspeople, because they need resources. It also affected Europe in another way.
The Christian View vs. The Muslim View of the Crusades The crusades were a set of different military actions that were sanctioned by the Catholic Church and the papacy. Their intention was to recapture Holy Lands they believed were rightfully theirs from the Muslim people that had invaded it. As any attack on a large group of people would do, every major group was affected. The Christians had their own reasons and beliefs for going on these Crusades.

The geographical limits are the countries involved in the Crusades. More specifically the Kingdom of England, the Holy Roman Empire, the Kingdom of France, and Jerusalem. The socio-political limit, referring to the political leaders and powers. Therefore, the role of Middle-Age Kingdoms and Empires in the causation and outcomes of the Crusades. The time which will be discussed, is specifically the First and Third Crusades, from 1095 to 1099, and from 1187 to 1192.
Medieval Europe was a time of war and conflict between different peoples. One of the most important military endeavors of the time was called the Crusades, which was a campaign of Christian attempts to take Jerusalem from the Muslims, who occupied it at the time. Spread over several hundred years, many bloody battles were fought over the holy city. The Crusades involved the two largest religions on the continent and impacted a massive amount of people. You can also consider the behavior of ISIS and their treatment of non-muslims and even Muslims that don’t worship the same way they do. In most people’s eyes that is extremely barbaric and an awful thing to do, but, they think they are carrying out Allah’s work. The example provided are showing that actions are not truly barbaric, it is all individual perception. In the books
Violence is Religion 's Best Friend When people are put in severe situations their true selves start to be releveled. As the dark violence of the massacre starts to affect the characters, their motives and desires also start to come out. The problem is not all of their desires are pure and many go against the ideals of who they should be. In The Massacre at Paris, Christopher Marlowe incorporates biblical concepts combined with violence in order to create dramatic tension and give the massacre irony. This is because religion is supposed to be peaceful but two religious groups are at war.
