“Perhaps the greatest utopia would be if we could all realize that no utopia is possible”- Jack Carroll. Basically the author is saying, a utopia is a system destined to fail. The more perfect a system, the more fragile it is. Any wrong move will cause the system tumbling down like a house of cards. A utopia cannot work because of the interactions between society. An example of this, is the film, Jurassic Park. In the film, people find a way to destroy a perfect ecosystem. In the movie, the dinosaur utopia fails because people decide to genetically modify an animal, and as you guessed it, things do not go out as planned. For the same reason, we still this day face difficulty because no place or person is perfect.
In a perfect society, you can never reach your goal. No matter how much you improve. Perfect by definition, is an unreachable. As you improve, the bar is moved further just beyond your reach (from the article, Why Utopias Fail). The first example of an unreachable goal, is the speed of light. No matter how much more energy you use, you can never reach the speed of light. Another example is, the temperature of absolute zero. If you remove all the heat you can, it will still be physically

The tighter you squeeze it, the more likely it will slip between your fingers. As you reach down to pick it up, you will end up slipping on the bar of soap, and hitting your head. The more pressure you put on a system the more likely it will fail (from the article, Why Utopias Fail). A real life example of this, is the more you try to erase a colored pencil drawing, the worse it will look. The next example is a wishbone. You can never snap it evenly in half. The harder you pull, the more likely you will end up losing. In the end, you will end up holding the short end of the wishbone. In conclusion, my last example is a congress. The more people that are placed into that system, the less likely it will operate
The idea of a utopia, a state or place where everything is perfect, is one that has been fantasized and described by many authors in several different ways. Just as beauty is in the eye of the beholder, a perfect society can appear very different to different people. Two books that both attempt to illustrate the idea of a perfect society but with stark contrasts are Anthem by Ayn Rand and The Giver by Lois Lowry. Both encourage the idea of prioritizing one’s community, and duty to said community, over oneself in order to maintain a perfect and peaceful society. However, utopian societies are usually shown to not be as perfect as they seem when analyzed in literature.
The Feast The dictionary definition of the word utopia means an imagined place or state of things in which everything is perfect. It represents a paradise. It is fair to say that every one of us has our own utopia. Whether it is a place where we do not have any essays to write or a place where there is an infinite number of essays to be written is entirely up to you.
Did you know Utopias pose as nice and peaceful places but under the surface there is upsetting and controlling problems that Affect their lives? In the book Fahrenheit 451 (Ray Bradbury) MS Phelps has been acting happy but after Montag read a poem her real feelings started to flow and she starting to cry. Ms. Phelps was posing as a carefree, happy person but she was actually hurting and in pain. The state is not a utopia because the citizens are covering up their pain by posing as untroubled people.
All people have different ideas on what they like. If one person chose what utopia they want, not everyone will be happy. Utopia is one way a person sees as perfect, so one person’s utopia could be another person’s dystopia. A lot of stories have attempted utopias, for example Harrison Bergeron, Animal Farm, and even House of the Scorpion.
The whole point of a Utopia is to create the “perfect society.” The opposite of a utopia is a dystopia, which is a place people find frightening. The term utopia was thought up by Sir Thomas More. American utopias flourished during the 19th century. But eventually almost every utopian community diminished.
To what extent can a perfect society be possible? In the novel The Giver the society was established to be a utopian world but, ended up becoming not so perfect after all with terrible things hiding underneath the surface. Modern day society is far from perfect; however, it does have some similarities with Jonas´ home along with many differences. In today's society we pride ourselves on having the freedom to choose our own lifestyle.
A utopian world is only a dream. All government, laws, and people would be equal in such a place. When a utopian world is trying to be achieved, it is often turned into a dystopian one. The ultimate push for perfection, with the help of science, is doomed to failure for the exactly the same reason.
Everyone has thought about what a perfect world would look like. The beauty and the happyness that you would see every day. The thing is that there is no such thing as perfect world. The short story “2BRO2B”, by Kurt Vonnegut, sums it up greatly. The story is about a perfect world, but the only way the population can be sustained is if one person dies for the next generation.
Wouldn 't it be wonderful to live in a perfect world? Well it 's not one. This world has this history that is not perfect. There were wars, flames and much more, but the worst of all would have to be racism and the inequality we had just because the color of one 's skin. In the past, we have done things to people that were not fair or right just because their skin was different.
When we hear the word utopia, different images pop up in our minds. Some might see rainbows and unicorns jumping around while others see laughing people or an infinite amount of money for everyone. The truth is that we do not live in a perfect society. But is utopia a place designed to be unreachable?
A perfect or dystopian society would have everything we wish. We could live without racism and have a nation where everyone is equally treated no matter what their racial orientation is. Since some problems we encounter today are caused by the government. Most sepcifically our president. Some people agree with him and others do not which causes a stir-up between citizens.
Ever since the creation of life on earth, humans have tried to achieve one thing and one thing only: perfection. Merriam-Webster dictionary defines it as “The condition, state, or quality of being free or as free as possible from all flaws or defects.” In a modern world, the concept of perfection has been distorted and generates an abundance of seemingly negative consequences, ultimately putting into question whether or not perfection is even possible. This striving for perfection is seen in Oryx and Crake, a novel written by Margaret Atwood. Crake’s idealistic personality and intelligence capabilities ultimately led him to replace the human population with a modified version that is free from all the negative aspects of humans.
Thomas More said “For things will never be perfect, until human beings are perfect - which I don't expect them to be for quite a number of years!” In More’s Utopia, everything is to be perfect with no economic or political problems as it did in England. The perfect society is full of equality and unity, gender roles for each sex and the humanism of it all. Every man, woman and child had a job to do in Utopia, no one was free to not work.
That is just how humans are programmed and made, perfection is just not part of the secret recipe, if you are perfect then you are not human. It is a fact that we are the ones driving through the journey of our respective lives, but life itself is not perfect, so how can you be? Every person has their own strengths and weaknesses, that is why every person has their own skills and talents. If everyone is perfect then everyone's is their own lawyers, doctors, teachers. Everyone makes mistakes, including you, your friends and your family.
Imagine a community with no hate, no war, and no famine. A place where everyone is accepted and everything is better than imaginable. This idea of perfection is known as a utopia, an ideal society. A utopia is known as a successful, perfect society. A place where everything goes right for everyone that lives there.
