I honestly do not have a leadership style that I am aware of, because I technically do not have any experience in being a leader. But I am open-minded, flexible, and loyal to my commitments. I think if the ARSA LI chose me as a participant, I would grow to be someone who can lead. The reason for my inexperience despite being the SSG/ Student body treasurer and being the class president for more than 4 years is because of the idleness of our group. My fellow student body leaders and I did not have the initiative to step up as a leader. We were idle because we did not know what to do or how to handle school-related problems, and we were afraid to do something risky such as implement a project because we were afraid that our projects would be unsuccessful. After my term as Student Body Treasurer, I felt regret because I was sure that we could have done something productive that would benefit the school. If only there was someone who could teach us how to be leaders or ignite the potential of being leaders for others in us. I have met ARSA LI grade 1 graduates, and they told me that ARSA LI had shaped them to great student-leaders. I do not know how but that is why I am eager to join the Leaders’ Institute. I want to learn how this training program would enhance the leadership skills of its participants. If I were chosen for ARSA LI, I would try to learn the various leadership styles and try to make my own, so that I could give something back to this organization, that has given me lots of opportunities to grow mentally and socially, by providing someone who is competent for ARSA related projects such as Senior’s sendoff, ARSA IAC, ARSAFEST, and more. I started out my leadership trail in Boy Scouting by becoming a Troop Scribe who as per se the Boy Scout Handbook, 2016 Edition “The Scribe attends and keeps a log of patrol leaders’ council meetings. He records attendance and dues payments of all troop members and records advancement in troop records and on the troop advancement chart.” After that, I ascended into becoming a Patrol Leader and then acting as a Senior Patrol Leader, the highest youth leader of the troop, handling all patrols’ affairs and coordinating with the Scoutmaster for advice and consent.
I believe that I am capable of both types of leadership. Most of my experience being a leader comes from sports. I currently play football and basketball. In football, I have always been a quarterback, which means I have always been the vocal leader of my team.
