Part A Task 1) Expectations and self-love Even though I really liked most of the quotes, there was one that really appealed to me. The quote I liked the most was the one by Richard Feynman, because it was the one I agreed the most with. I think we 'd all be a lot happier if we stopped worrying about what others think we should accomplish and rather focus on what we ourselves want to do. When people have expectations for us we usually become a lot harder on ourselves and bring ourselves down for not succeeding at what others think we should succeed at. It brings us down a lot emotionally and mentally, even though we really shouldn 't care this much. But the sad truth is that we value others opinions of us more than what we think of ourselves. In the quote Feynman says that we don 't really have to live up to all these expectations that people, and society as a whole have laid out for us, which is something I really agree with. Confidence to me is being comfortable in being yourself. Not a lot of people are these days and it 's really sad, but it also makes a lot of sense. We are quite a wealthy and privileged generation from a first world country so we don 't really have the same problems as those from third world countries, but we do have a lot of self made problems. Aside from global warming and all those things that we 're probably mostly responsible for, we have created a society that teach us from the moment we were born that hating yourself is the standard. We
Whenever we get our hopes up we find added disappointments. 10. Wherever we go we seem to get lost. 11.
My second quote was from one of my long time favorite books, the perks of being a wallflower. I thought it was appropriate to have a quote from a coming of age story in a report about me growing into the person I am today. One of the main things I enjoyed about The Perks of Being a Wallflower was the way that people were portrayed as being imperfect and that everyone had their flaws, all things that I thought my quote encompassed. The final quote I chose is, for the most part, a saying for
If people didn’t care for themselves, then they wouldn’t know how to care for others and vice
Motivation quotes stand out to me because I always had a problem with that and there are a couple missed opportunities that I wish I would have acted upon. Which is why for me the theme that stands out the most for me is pursuing your dreams. This relates to me because I personally am someone who
Don't assume anything. 4. Always do your best. Number 4 is a piece of cake for me, as I always give my all in everything I do. Sometimes to the point of being a detriment.
When a person feels insecure they often try and take problems into their own hands to make others fail or look terrible, and this seems to make
She begins by offering that one, “Start with a YES and see where that takes you” (Fey 84). While it may seem so, Fey is not encouraging passivity; rather she is inspiring one to grow the tenacity to believe in both oneself and others. For confidence is not simply about believing in yourself, but also believing in the abilities of those around you. When improvising one has to trust that the other(s) is capable of producing an engaging response. Furthermore, having confidence in others often leads to additional confidence in themselves.
In Richard Rodriguez’s essay, “The Achievement of Desire” he brings you through important memories of his life that impacted his education, and more specifically his reading and writing. As a child, he was eager to learn and ready to soak up all the knowledge he could get. He received many awards and good feedback from his teachers which gave him all the more motivation to learn more. Soon his motivation came out of annoyance of his parents.
Child psychology, also called child development, is the study of the psychological processes of children and especially, how they develop as young adults and how they differ from one child to the next. It basically tends to map onto children’s physical, cognitive and social/emotional development. Psychologists attempt to make sense of every aspect of child development, including how children learn, think, interact and respond emotionally to people around them and understand emotions and their developing personalities, temperaments and skills. It also includes how individual, social and cultural factors may influence their development. Child study is of comparatively recent origin.
“That some achieve great success, is proof to all that others can achieve it as well.” -A. Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln was the man who never told a lie, and he brought great success to our country. He came from nothing, living in the back of the store, where he worked the front counter. Abraham was a self-taught reader and lawyer, and spent hours and worked late into the night to create the best work he could.
My biggest challenge so far has been focusing on myself rather than others. I would like to become more self-confident and accepting of myself and others, but it’s difficult when I’m always worrying about how my fellow students see me. “ (Telemachus:) I think what you have said will not be accomplished. What you mean is too big. It bewilders me.
Confidence is essential to living a happy, successful life. It is extremely hard to find any motivation or work hard at something if you have low self-esteem. However, there is a fine line between self confidence and arrogance or ignorance. While confidence is a great motivator, too much of it tends to end in more negative rather than positive consequences. In “Into the Wild” by Jon Krakauer and “Last American Man” by Elizabeth Gilbert, Chris McCandless and Eustace Conway share a passion for the wilderness.
D. Relationship: This quote sums up some of the good and bad effects of pride. E. Thesis Statement: Pride is an unattractive quality to possess because its flaws outway its
Everyone or, close to everyone was a outsider once and you should think you have value for example, as a kid it is very possible that you 've moved, moved schools, etc. Next, even as a young adult or, adult you could move away to a different city or state for college or, a job or, to start a business or, even to help people. Isn 't that some good value? Even though outsiders have value they still don 't think they have any for example, when a kid moves, or to a new school they feel bad they had to leave their friends so, they don 't try to make new friends so, the kids call him the “the new kid” which makes him feel like an outsider even though he has a lot of potential and ideas that he had from his other school.
Emerson's insistence upon self-reliance is a demand for self-belief, non-conformity, and inconsistency. As an editor of The Dial, a transcendental journal, Emerson wrote the essay Self-Reliance for all men and teenagers unwilling to be ordinary on their path to self-realization. Emerson uses metaphors and analogies to express his idea that one should act singly, following his own nature. However, Emerson overestimates the power of individuals: ignoring the role of the community in our daily life and neglecting to objectively assess our environment can lead to a vicious circle of self-aggrandizement and narcissism.
