Culture Develops, Spreads, and Changes Over Time Jennie le East Culture is what makes humans in the world similar but different from others. It’s a way of life of a group of people-the behaviors, beliefs, values, and symbols that they accept, generally without thinking about them, and are passed along communications and imitation from one generation to the next. It’s how people in a group should act if they want to fit in the group. Culture sticks us together and separates us from the rest. It guides us to solve problems and conflicts everyone faces. A geographic region, culture, and identity being shared is known as a society. An ethnic group is a group that shares heritage, language and customs. Societies and cultures are always on the move of changing. It varies on the time and speed it does. Without language, culture would not exist. We would have no concept of anything. We pass ideas, knowledge, and even attitude on the next generation using language. Without the ability to communicate, knowledge from one generation to the next, would disappear and any experience in someone’s life would go unused. Without language we would have little to know. Language has embedded within the ways of looking at the world. It is impossible to have culture without language. Languages are placed with similar languages in its families. Different versions of a language is called dialects. They show changes in the patterns of speeches connected to cultural changes, class, and region.
