Motif essay By. Jan Podgorni In the book The Things They Carried, many tragedies happened in this book, that the characters got confused if it happen or it didn’t happen. Society starts to crumble, when people don’t realise what’s a truth or a lie. Not knowing if something is a truth or a lie can really hurt someone because they can’t tell what’s actually happening or not. It’s very overwhelming and stressful for the person that can't determine what’s a true or a lie because they are deeply muddled and it can significantly affect other people around them as well.
The real question is should our school participate or not? Technology has been around since the 1860s. Technology has many effects in our environment and has helped develop more advanced economies in our society. The use of technology can enhance and deteriorate the lives of many people especially students. In my personal opinion, I think our school should participate in “ Shut your Screen Week” The reasons I think our school should participate include using technology such as cell phones during class can cause distraction, the use of too much technology can be overwhelming, Spending hours on a screen can lead to certain health issues such as poor eyesight, and by decreasing the amount of technology usage it
Locating public transportation routes and finding times to fit in with my schedule was extremely difficult, and would have been much more so without the aid of technology. Additionally, life stressors such as young children or a full-time job could make the trip much more challenging. Not only was the office inaccessible, but it was unwelcoming and sterile. The receptionists were strict and showed little compassion towards those asking for help, making an already embarrassing process so much more difficult. Throughout this experience, I realized how challenging the public service system is to access and use, resulting in frustration for many of those seeking help, especially for people with language barriers or disabilities.
There are many similarities and differences that these two societies possess, for instance, the electronics, the books, and the sameness and quickness of the societies. Having a dystopian society is meant to make people happy but ends up making them depressed without them even knowing. First off, in our society today, there is always new ways of doing things not manually but with all the new electronics coming out. 85% of teens in America have cell phones, in our society this might be frowned upon. Children in this society will spend their days playing on their cell phones, playing video games, listening to music, and watching televisions.
My self doubt is one of the biggest things that gets in my way. It makes me fail when I want to succeed. It makes me see bad outcomes before it happens. It makes me see my life as “The glass is half empty instead of half full.” It makes me have a lack of confidence in myself and my abilities. The big problem with having bad self esteem is you can not just get rid of it overnight.

Is technology really creating a better world for people? With all the different types of technology, it is undoubtedly a part of everyone’s life today. Not only that, but technology could be viewed as consuming the world, dispersing information and so much that not all of it can be processed. Some people argue that technology is completely beneficial to its users, allowing quick access to all sorts of resources, but it is clear Foothill High School should join in the national “Shut Down Your Screen Week” because many teenagers have never been away from their devices for very long and could easily benefit from the forced interaction with real people around, and the psychological benefits of “unplugging” are numerous and attractive. However,
We just have a lot of obstacles and distractions in our lives. Being brought up in the era where technology is everything, people are at a huge disadvantage. Most people have a lot of thing’s going on in their lives so that requires them to do various things at the same time; they “multitask.” And what is
Therefore, one can see way there was such a disheartening feeling between the ARC and many of the organization’s donors. Furthermore, some of the reasons for the organization’s ethical dilemmas were due to short staffing, facilities not being prepared for disasters, and not being transparent with its stakeholders. Another key reason for the organization’s ethical dilemma was that it had not updated its code of conduct to address today’s leadership and employees. Additionally, the ARC had problems handling large sums of money from donations due its use of outdated technology, and there were several executives who were considered overpaid which created a negative image to stakeholders. “Executive compensation is a controversial subject, and it is rarely far from the media’s gaze.
Of course it has benefited our society in many ways but it has also been a distraction and a nuisance to us as well. If we were able to communicate without if for so many years, than why are we so dependent on it today? To me technology is almost like an addiction for human beings. We always want more of it and many of us can’t live without it. I can’t even imagine living a day without my cell phone and laptop, which I am sad to admit.
Despite the great advances made in modern technology, it is damaging us as a society. These days, you can hardly go a few minutes without seeing someone on their phone or device. Our devices are a way to easily distract and remove ourselves from reality. The positive and negative both overlap with each other and in turn contradict one another.
