During this developmental interview, I chose to conduct an observation/interview study with my one of my cousin’s child. This child is a 4 year old girl and will be identified as “child K” in relation to her first name. Her parents had no problem letting me interview her, but I had them stay in the same room as us. The purpose of this interview was to observe the child’s physical, cognitive, and socioemotional development. I observed her behavior and gave her several tests to show how well she has progressed.

This development is important for children’s holistic development as this will help the children to socialise and help them express what they like and need, this will get them to have more sense about the world. If the child can communicate this will help them with their confident and self-esteem levels as they can talk about how they feel.it is important for children to use their own language skills and not to listen to other all the time and this could put their development back. A child could also become withdrawn or depressed due to not being able to explain their feelings or emotions positively, which could have an effect on other areas of their development. If a child is not encouraged to chew their food or talk then there is the possibility of certain muscles in their mouth failing to develop
Where children live and the way they are brought up by their parents/carers has an effect on whom they are as a person and how they will develop. For instance if parents are rich or poor, live in good or bad housing, if they are capable loving carers or struggle with parenthood and/or their own (mental) health, or if there is abuse or lack of interest in the family unit, all these circumstances will make a difference to a child’s life and their physical and emotional health might be affected by these different scenarios.
Disability affects development and learning because disability affects children's development in different ways. That can be physically and sensory, social, emotional and behavioural and learning or cognitive.
This research task will be focusing on the issues of how children deal with the effects of their father being in prison and how this may be affecting their education. This is an important concept as children find it difficult when there is a problem for them to face. I will be analysing how a child and a parent will be affected because of their spouse in Prison. I will be analysing six sources to see what researches have said and what they predict.

Sigmund Freud indicated how disruptions in stages of development may relate to current problems in adult hood for example :Trauma at an early stage in life may effectively prevent natural development through that stage this may then have a knock on effect in future stages causing development or learning problems for an adult .
The attachment theory, developed by John Bowlby and Mary Ainsworth is an essential key that explains many child-parent relationships and the influence it has on development. Attachment is a process that begins during infancy in an individual’s life and can have long lasting effects. Bowlby’s theory concluded that the bonds formed between a caregiver and a child during the early years were the blueprints for future relationships. Ainsworth’s “strange situation” experiments and numerous studies tested Bowlby’s original theory and expanded on it. This paper will provide an overview on the research that has been conducted on the effects of attachment patterns on an individual’s early and later development.
Language skill is one of the milestone achievements of the first two years of life. Children are born with innate schema of communication, such as body language or facial expression to communicate with parents or caregiver.
How infant and toddlers are given the time, space, engagement have huge impact in children later years. Experts too has agreed that all these factor are important to the development of children socio-emotional and cognitive (Scroufe, 1988; Howes, 1999). Secure attachments support and help children to be able to regulate emotions, reduce fear, building relationship with other adults, empathy for others and appropriate moral reasoning. Bowlby calls this as the internal working model. In the opposite direction, insecure attachments, has negative impact on child overall development for instance they are be able to manage their emotions or engage in reciprocal relationships. In a longitudinal study by Waters, Merrick, Treboux, & Albersheim (2000), they monitored 50 individuals over a period of 20 years found that there is a stable secured attachment over that period, with a greater percentile for individuals without any major negative life events, and less stable (less than 50%) for those who had experienced a major negative
