The first reason that I think that Adnan Syed is responsible of the murder of Hae Min Lee is because the palm print that was found on the map book that the police found in Hae's car. The map book that was found in Hae's had adnan´s palm print on the back and there was a page of the book that was ripped. This palm print could've been there for a long time, but that means that Adnan has been in Hae's car. The ripped page was the page that showed Leakin park, but it also showed the rest of the town, "At trial they pointed out that it was the page that showed Leakin Park" (serial, S1, E6, pg 85). The ripped out page showed a whole lot more than just Leakin Park." In fact, it showed their whole neighborhood, the school, the malls, probably ninety percent of where they most often drove" (serial, S1, E6, pg 85). …show more content…
Another reason I picked the palm print as my first quote is because it shows that he was in her car doing something. The second quote I think it represent the most because it shows some of the places that Adnan could’ve killed Hae. This evidence supports my subclaim because this evidence shows that Adnan could've been in Hae's car the same day that she was killed. Another thing that I think that is suspicious is why would Adnan needed the page of his own home town, maybe he was looking for a place to bury her. That was my first reason the palm print that Adnan left on a map book that was found in Hae's car. I think that there is a lot more evidence that shows that Adnan is guilty, but one of the ones that I think is one of the most important is Jay's
There was not enough evidence to prove if Adnan was innocent or guilty. There were multiple people that said that Jay had Adnan’s phone but Adnan called Jay at least twice which means that Adnan would have had to use a payphone or borrow a phone. And supposedly Adnan was sitting in the best buy parking lot when he called Jay. Also in the time it took
In the past, have you ever been accused of something you never did and gotten in trouble for it? For example the old saying “whoever smelt it dealt it” or when one of your siblings does something but blames it on you so that you get in trouble and they don’t. Well this is what happened with Adnan Syed. Adnan was accused of murdering his ex girlfriend Hae Min Lee on January 13, 1999. I think that Adnan is innocent of all these accusations made against him and someone pinned the murder on him so they can get away with the crime that they committed.
At the age of 17, Adnan Syed was charged for the murder of Hae Min Lee, but I don’t believe he did it, and I want to tell you why I think it was Jay who committed the murder. In this case there are days worth of reading for evidence. Just in the transcripts, there’s 288 pages, some of it evidence, some of it conversations, and some of it interviews. There are so many people involved that it's very difficult to say for certain that Adnan did it, but it's also very difficult to point out anyone else that could have done it as well.
The prosecution case against Adnan Syed was mainly based on the testimony of Jay wilds, who said he helped bury Hae Min Lee's body. Jay's testimony was supported by the cell phone records that placed Adnan on the site on the Day Hae Min Lee disappeared. According to the prosecution, the evidence sayed that Adnan had a motive to Kill Hae, because he was jealous and possessive of her. However, there are inconsistinces in Jay’s testimony, which has changed multiple times over the years. Some people also claimed that He was pressured into providing false testimony by the police.
Jay tells investigators that Adnan was carefully plotting Hae’s murder. Later he says he didn't believe Adnan was serious and thought it was all a big joke. When Jay is questioned on why he didn't come forward to prevent this murder, he says he was afraid that he would be put in jail for selling drugs. Jay also says he kept quiet because Adnan threatened to hurt Stephanie, Jay’s girlfriend. Keep in mind Jay’s testimony is the state's main indication Adnan is guilty.
The call to Patrick was never answered, so Jay stated that since they couldn’t get it from Patrick that they just went up to Forest Park to buy the weed. On the way back from the Park, Jay mentions that Adnan got a phone call from a girl. This is the part of Jay’s story that the police really hold on to. On the call records it does have a call at around the time to this girl, a girl only Adnan would know. This call puts Adnan and Jay together at a time that Adnan said he wasn’t with Jay.
However, despite the conviction the whereabouts of Adnan Syed are very blurry on the day of Hae Min Lee’s death. Asia McClain,
This is important because if Adnan was very late to track practice, then his teammates would have noticed and remembered that day, so why is Jay telling a story to make Adnan look even worse? Therefore, if Adnan’s case was filled with many lies, who could have been telling the actual truth about Adnan? What seems to be true is everything that proves he’s innocent because it seems to make more sense in the
Some argue this because if there wasn’t an actual murder committed by Adnan, then Jay wouldn’t know these important details. However, this knowledge provided by Jay could just be proving that Jay is the murderer. For example, Jay claimed he refused to help dig the hole for Hae’s body, but then he claimed he did help dig the hole (Koenig, “Inconsistencies”). That is such a big detail that you would think is hard to forget or mess up. Well, he could have just been saving himself but he was already tied into the murder when he talked with the detectives.
To start off, let's talk about a woman named Asia McClain. She was Adnan's former school mate at Woodlawn high school who claims to have seen Adnan Syed in the school library around the time of the murder. Now if this was true, the library would have surveillance footage of Adnan and
When Jay returned to picking Adnan up, that is when he found out he really did kill Hae from what Jay told the police. Jay then proceeded to tell the police Adnan pursued him to go help in digging the grave and getting rid of the evidence. In which I believe he was contradicted himself the whole time during his interrogation when listening to the tape that Sarah
These two reasons are all that a person should need to believe that Adnan didn't have enough motive, or time, to kill Hae. Jays testimony sets the timeline and proves there is enough evidence, which is not presented by Adnan’s lawyer, to say Adnan is innocent by a straying story. The time period where Hae could've been killed does not match Adnan’s timeline. Jay, who is a convicted felon, was the only witness and is trusted to give a good story. Cristina Gutierrez, who was Adnan’s lawyer, had medical issues that distracted her from using useful information in his case.
Relationships, lies, murder, conviction. These are all aspects that come into play when talking about the January 13th, 1999 murder of high school student Hae Min Lee. Adnan Syed, Hae’s 17-year-old ex-boyfriend was convicted of her murder in 2000. The problem with this is that the only evidence the state had to convict Adnan was the stories told by others, specifically someone named Jay who was with Adnan for some of the day Hae went missing and had possession of Adnan’s car and cell phone. He claims Adnan made him come pick him up after the murder was committed and assist him in burying Hae’s body.
She states “A year after Adnan was arrested and the case came to trial, Jay walked up to the witness stand. There’s a moment when Adnan muttered something to him” (45). By Adnan calling Jay pathetic he showed that he couldn’t believe Jay would rat him out. This incident shows that Adnan is a liar and is mad at Jay for going to the police, showing that he is guilty. Even after controlling himself through the whole case he snapped when he saw the man that betrayed him.
Of course, many people think Adnan Syed is guilty of murdering Hae by contradicting himself, by saying, “I am in here for my own mistakes.” He might have been on the edge of confessing his guilt until Sarah caught this and asked what he meant, and quickly recovers from his mistake. Adnan also slips his tongue by saying that he wants people to only look at the evidence, and not his personality. If I were convicted of a crime I would certainly like to have my personality be looked at, if I were innocent. So they could see what good I have done.
