“Within the Special maritime and territorial jurisdiction of the United States. Whoever is guilty of murder in the first degree shall be punished by death or by imprisonment for life” (U.S. code of law). We live in a country where taking a life is a serious crime, unless that it 's a life of an animal, which can neither speak nor understand the horrifying actions that are being carried out. Pets can think, feel and act, just like people do, they’re alive. If animals are alive, like humans, then why should taking away their life result in a maximum 2 years in prison and a fine that never exceeds 1,000 dollars? Though laws are already in place, animal abusers should be given stricter punishment because, they’re jail time is limited, it 's …show more content…
Increasing the severity of animal abuse by giving more prison time and harsher punishment can cut back on crimes such as dog fighting and greyhound racing, which brings drugs, violence and gambling to the areas they are in (Wyoming Tribune-Eagle). With dog fighting being only a misdemeanor and not a felony, the police don 't have the resources or time to put into it to investigate reported cases of it, and with the sentence being so minor, those who make a living off of fighting and racing dogs view a short 6 month sentence and a minor fine as just a sacrifice for the money.
It has also been proven that people who harm animals for fun are most likely to move on to larger targets, like humans in the future. Keeping these offenders in prison for a longer time, would place them in a monitored environment for an extended period of time where mental instabilities can be picked up and taken care of before they hurt someone or something else. A lack of laws and regulations also makes it extremely easy for an animal offender, like a dog fighter, to obtain a new animal so that they can continue their abusive
We are not alone on this Earth. We, humans, have animals by our side. We share this inhabitable planet together with animals, and they should have same right as we do on this beautiful planet. Animals are pure instinctual living creatures who never think before following their instincts. They won’t think otherwise before killing a person.
A prison sentence is designed to punish people who break Society’s laws, but that isn’t always the case. In March of 2016, Star Student athlete Brock Turner at Stanford College was convicted of sexually assaulting an unconscious and intoxicated woman behind a dumpster, while he also was intoxicated, he was possibly facing ten years. June 2nd, 2016, Turner was sentenced to 6 months in Jail by Judge Aaron Persky, his reason being that “A prison sentence would have a severe impact on him. I think he will not be a danger to others” (Why Brock Turner Only Got 6 Months in Jail, 1). Although his sentence was light, he also had to register as a sex offender.
Why there is no stop to dog abuse? Why do people continue to beat these animals people ask, There is no answer, no law stating no animal abuse so no stopping it. These poor precious animals have a soul, and feelings to. If these animals continue to be treated this way they will continue to be aggressive towards people.
Hounds are made to kill anyone that breaks the law. The government doesn 't care if violence is used, its part of life. “A four inch hollow steel needle plugged down from the proboscis of the Hound to inject massive jolts of morphine and procaine.” (Bradbury 22).
According to Elizabeth Harman, an action that kills an animal even painlessly, is an action that harms the animal. If we indeed have strong moral reasons against causing pain to animals, Harman argues we must also have strong moral reasons against killing animals. This raises an objection to the Surprising Claim, which states that we have strong reasons against causing intense pain to animals, but only weak reasons against killing animals. The First View claims that killing an animal deprives it of a positive benefit (future life) but does not harm the animal.
• 86% of the attacks resulted in maiming of a person or animal. • 100% of the animals were destroyed or removed from their homes. What are the pros of breed specific regulations?
More than 650 million animals are slaughtered for food in Canada, every year, most of them poultry. Most Canadians think the government ensures the humane treatment of farm animals and when told that that’s not the case they are shocked to discover the lack of monitoring of farms across the country. Canada doesn't have regulations on how animals should be treated on farms other than federal and provincial animal cruelty laws. These laws are only used to prosecute livestock producers in cases of rare and egregious abuse, such as when animals are neglected to the point of starvation.
Animals are great and make our lives better but when they are suffering and all we can do is extend their pain for a few months and pay thousands of dollars it just isn’t worth it. Americans nowadays spend money on tons of things that aren’t worth it, but spending thousands of dollars on dying animals is ridiculous. Furthermore, people even treat their animals as family like for example “Eighty-Three Percent refer to themselves to as their parents pet’s mom or dad” (The Last Meow). As a former pet owner I can say that it is ridiculous how people consider animals as their family and use that to justify spending thousands of dollars to keep them for a few months longer.
Due to poaching, your favorite animals might be getting killed each day slowly decreasing their population, even though there are laws that are supposed to prevent this. Studies show that thousands of animals are getting killed each year and the hunters are not getting enough discipline for their actions. Though, they should not get the death penalty, they should at least get some type of restraint. Although many people think poachers should not get extreme punishment for their crimes, poaching laws should become harsher because killers are not getting enough retribution, people are wearing animals as clothes, and species are getting endangered.
Dogs should not be executed for biting someone because it could be how they were raised. People raise their dogs to protect them and their family or home. Just because the dog bites the mail man when they bring the mail, does not mean they are mean and should be executed. It means the owner trained the dog to protect the house and they are doing what they were trained to do. Cops raise K9’s to protect the community from danger and they use them to get the suspect and they don’t get executed.
Is it right to kill those innocent creatures painfully? No. It’s not right to harm them for our own benefits. Every living soul have rights, this includes animals, and just because they can’t speak up for themselves doesn’t mean we can take that away from them. The fact that they can’t speak is a disadvantage, and it’s unethical for us to use their disadvantage against them for our own benefits.
Animal Cruelty Have you ever wondered how much atrocious animal treatments are occurring around the world? The average number of animal abuse cases reported in the media each year is 1,920 according to a study conducted this year by Statistic Brain Research Institute. Moreover, a lot of animals struggle around the globe because they are often beaten, neglected and hunted, which forces them to fight for survival. Helpless animals continue to be exploited by humans and are still constantly being robbed of their lives. Thus, animal cruelty is the killing, exploiting and neglecting the needs of animals that are causing extinction and nonessential suffering.
Rights are against the use of force and they are our primary if not only our means of survival. There is only one fundamental right: To live successfully, a man has to make his own choices as well as animals too (Roleff,2014,p.33). There is a huge difference between giving animals their rights which is less than human beings and not to give them rights at all. Nowadays animals are presented in many places of entertainment such as zoos and cruces as well as aquariums where the audients pay a lot of cash to watch fun and exciting things going on, it sure makes us happy but what about the animals are they happy too? Are places of entertainment appropriate for wild animals to live in it normally?
Animals are being abused everyday and they are not taken into consideration when you see them being abused. They are suffering and they are being abused everyday and you all need to stop it. Animal cruelty is not something that just goes away the person doing it will keep doing it until someone stops them. Everyone needs to stop animal abuse and if everyone starts to make a difference others will to. Animals need help with this and everyone needs to help them.
It is not right to euthanize dogs because it is unfair due to equal rights, it is cruel to kill animals, and there are possibly better ways to treat dogs who bite people. Killing dogs for biting is considered an unfair punishment, and they should have the same rights as humans.
