I firmly believe that i deserve this award granted by the Courage to Grow Scholarship. Education is greatly important to me and my future. No one in my family has ever attended college and I know that I can change that. I may come from a poor family but it is my goal to be successful in the career i choose.
Strenght is a word that has many meanings and can be found in many ways. Melba Patillo Beals had to find strength while struggling through bullying and harrassment because she was one of the nine black members who attended central high school when it first integrated as the the first integrated school in arkansas. Protesters and white students would call her and the rest of LR9 names and tell them to go home and try to harm them. Even though they had national guards and different troops to protect them she was assigned a soldier named Danny , there were a lot of rules against protecion for the guards so there for There were many instances where their lives were in great danger. One day however, the school decided to go a day without any protection.
It has, especially, helped with choosing a career and being prepared for my future. The scholarship will help further my interest in to a firefighting and emergency medical services career, and I believe I should receive this scholarship
This courage is what Elie Wiesel's character Eliezer uses in the book Night to help cover and ignore his wounds quickly so that he is able to survive. His courage made it so he could survive these most horrible events even though his scars have never fully healed.
When I was 14, I saw my remarkable cousin walk across the stage to receive her award for all her years of dedication to be inducted into National Honor Society. She encompassed all the requirements for entrance into the National Honor Society and ever since then, I have had my mindset on following in her footsteps and stepping even farther to conquer the indefinite. As I opened the letter to be invited to apply for membership, I could not even remember the last time my eyes and smile sprouted that immense because to me, being nominated to be a member of the National Honor Society is an honor in itself. I would be thrilled to join such a society because of the limitless opportunities it would present to me. Joining NHS would allow me to grow as a person and do as much as I can for others.
Breaking The Chains Of Conformity With Courage Courage is similar to being the ripened fruit on a barren tree, it gives life and color to a dull exterior. The courage that others display gives our nation determination for another day. Courage is the ability to prevail through hardships, to reveal your true inner nature, and to stand up for what you believe, when the rest of the world falls as a slave to conformity. Hardships are lurking around every corner of our life ready to immerse whenever we least expect them.

Courage is something that people display in their everyday life, you see courage on the streets, at school and maybe even at home but you probably never even notice it or even thought about it. Leading to Will discovering Jamal’s love of writing, which is the foundation of their friendship.
I believe I should be selected for the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Scholarship because I am not the typical high school senior. When it comes to my education, I go about and beyond expectations. My desire to do my best in school shows consistently year after year. I put in equal amount of effort when it comes to my after school activities and community involvement. I was told at a young age that education was the key to success and from that point on I made it my main priority not to be the average student among those that settle for less but to be a outstanding student that rises to every occasion to take advantage of my education.
Ever since I was a young child I knew I had one dream I wanted to turn into a realty. Some kids would answer when asked what they wanted to be when they grew up where, “An artist,” “A princess,” “Rich and famous.” But at that age, I knew I wanted to be a pediatrician. Saving lives and helping children was a dream I wanted to turn into a reality. At a young age, I was taught to work hard for anything you wanted to achieve.
“You will never do anything in this world without courage. It is the greatest quality of the mind next to honor” said Aristotle. Courage is an act of bravery one does that is frightening yet they still persevere. Courage is found in many different situations in the modern world like in members of our military, law enforcement, and many others ordinary people performing courageous acts to help better our society. Everyone wants to have courage since whether in music, Hollywood movies, fairytales, or books we are told courage is one of the most important attributes that can turn an ordinary person into a hero.

In the dictionary, it says that that word means to be able to withstand force or pressure, and everything is brought back to teamwork again. This scholarship is a wonderful opportunity for students of GVSU, and I am honored to be considered for this scholarship. I believe that I am a great applicant for this scholarship, and that I deserve this scholarship. One reason I deserve this scholarship is because of my strong academic courses. Throughout my high school career, I pushed myself academically by taking a total of 10 AP classes and 7 honors classes. These classes were all challenging, yet I pushed through with determination to complete the classes to the best of my ability.
When I graduate high school, I plan on having future goals that I plan on achieving. My first goal is to go to college and get a degree. I plan on attending Purdue NorthWest majoring in engineering and minoring in business. This is my number one future goal that I need to accomplish because to be able to have a nice life, I need to go to college to support my future family. My next future goal would be get a starting job to be able to support my future family.
