As well as effecting teenagers home lives, it would effect those of the teachers greatly as well. Teachers already stay after school sometimes for two hours or more preparing for the rest of the school week. If we were released even at four, just one hour later than we are now, they may not be home until six or later. Those teachers with children would find this next to impossible. They need to be home to pick up their children and take them to any activities they may have, cook dinner, tidy the house, prepare for work the next day, and to just be a parent.
Should the academic school year be extended with more breaks? If we extend the school year with more breaks we will close the education gap, prevent summer learning loss, and students will be less stressed with more time to do work. There are definite advantages of extending the school year to a year around calendar. The first reason we should go to school year around with more breaks is to close the education gap between countries. Here in America we go to school and average of 180 days, while in Britain they go an average of 192 days and in Japan they go an average of 243 days.
2)We should have block schedules at Carmen so that students are having more work time in class and less homework at night that causes them to stay up late. Having a block schedule will allow students to have less homework at night this also prevents them from staying up late. My friend who goes to a school that once had no block schedule. She had said they had changed to block schedule and that everything went very well for her after that.
Argumentative essay against late start school Claim #1 Is late start school really a good idea for students who want to attend extra after school activities? Students who want to do after school activities would not be able to do after school activities if they go to school later. If the school start time starts later you will get out of school later which will not leave enough time for after school activities like sports and even after school jobs. Students who will get out later will not have enough time for sports after school because it will get dark earlier as it gets closer to winter and you will get out of school later so there definitely will not have enough time for after school activities.
Schools should not shift their start time back to where they start their school later in the morning and end later in the day. If students are missing class or coming in late to school because they are tired, it’s their fault when their grades are dropping. In 2001 studies showed that school administrators cited extracurricular activities as a major reason why high school campuses would rather start earlier in the day (http://classroom.synonym.com/). Here are three reasons why this helps.
Having a later school start time would hurt more than it would help. Changing the start time could potentially send students the wrong message. Being on time, handling a busy schedule and leanring how to balance sleep are all things that students must learn before entering the workforce (O’Neill, 21). No employer is going to change the time that an employee must clock in because he or she does not get the correct hours of sleep per night, so learning how to cope with this is crucial. If a school changes their start time they are potentially setting the students up for failure later in life.
If Friday was dissolved into the weekend and the week was shortened to a Monday through Thursday schedule, there would be more time for students to work independently on projects and get something out of their school work. Too often, I see students having to
Now on Some critics are concerned that students may not remember the lessons from last week because of the longer weekend and negatively impact students attention during classes. Also, However, by shortening the days of the week, each day have a longer period of time which allows the teachers to teach without rushing through their lessons and assignments, allowing the students to recall all the knowledge. Also, Students can ask more questions and receive a more detailed explanation from the teachers due to the longer period. Next, The third day added to the weekend refreshes students mind and gives extra time for homework and projects on the weekends. Now on, For example, the science teachers have enough time to run labs, have the students write the lab reports, and clean up the labs in one class period,” she says.
Having less holiday breaks during the school year can impact the us due to not having enough time to bond with family get together on a holiday or celebration. I would love to keep the school schedule the same and so do most kids. In conclusion, We should not have a four day school week due to how much our summer break will be cut down to, how long we will have to stay at school, and the amount of holidays throughout the school year we will not get off like we usually would. It would just make school even worse.
For example from the story (The Benefits of Year Round Education) “Intersession classes in the year-round model can provide education in art ,music ,hobbies ,and sports, many of which can no longer be offered during the regular school year because of the focus on math ,english ,and science , those subjects typically tested by federal mandates.” When students are on one of their breaks from school they will be able to take an enrichment class. These classes are kind of like the fun summer school classes kids get to take for the traditional school calendar. A lot of students have to focus only on their core classes during school and do not get a chance to take elective classes like art or music .It is good for students to take these more fun classes because it help them interested in school.
We would like to have a break, and not sit in our desks/ tables for 90 minutes each period, and our backs start to hurt and we get sleepy/ tired. I also think that it would be a fun thing to do, and it would help wake us up so that we’re not falling asleep in class. Reasons why we should get recess. It will wake us up so that we’re not falling
Intro: Want to know why having no three month traditional break might actually be good for people? Some people believe that school should carry on without the traditional three month break, while some other people believe that there should be the traditional three month break. Although schools should have the year round school year instead of the, traditional three month break. Reasons 1: Regular 180 school days each school year was started when kids were needed to work in the fields.
At school kids learn and flex their creative muscles, and in order to make the school year not feel like a chore there needs to be equal time to relax, so that they are not stressed or not interested in school. Long breaks need to stay in order for there to be a time where the kids can truly relaxed and not forced into a working situation immidiatly. It is a excellent feeling when there is no work over the break so it is not hanging over their heads to do it. Feeling overworked is not a pleasent feeling because you always feel that there is more to do and that there will never be a break with no work. After a long break, students also feel more energized and ready to learn, than feeling tired and loosing focus.
Save the Students Public schools are a yearly requirement for people under the age of eighteen. Schools are already opened for ten months a year, five days a week from 9-4pm which is more than 80 % of a student’s entire existing time. From the early age of five, all the way until the age of eighteen, these students by law have to attend school. It would be quite unreasonable and unfair to the students if public schools were to be open year round. Public schools should not be kept open year round because they stress the students, take away family time, and remove any possibility of leisure time.
Year-round schooling exchanges summer vacation for several shorter breaks at different times of the year. Both Year-round schooling and traditional schooling have 180 days. Even though they have the same amount of days, Year-round schooling can improve a child’s academic achievement, give students an opportunity to regenerate more frequently, and may help financial expenses. Deciding whether or not to put your child in this kind of schooling is an important decision. Personally, I believe Year-round schooling is a great idea.
