The topic I will be writing about is why students should be able to sleep in class. I agree with that statement because you may not know what a student is going through at their home.They may have to go home to long tiresome chores. Also after they do their chores they may have to do homework. Another reason I agree with this statement is because a lot of students play sports ,and have afternoon practice. Practices can last up to 4 to 5 hours depending on the type of day. At our school we have practice starting 7th period, and we don't leave until about 7 p.m.
After practice I have to go home to long homework for multiple classes. According to InquiriesJournal.com, it says a student can spend hours listening to teachers and taking tests, then have to run off to loads of homework. Teachers these days assign hours worth of homework each night. The homework I do can last up to 8:30 p.m. Not mentioning that I also have to eat,shower, and iron my school uniform. What is the point of student staying awake for hours waiting on others to get done. In the long run than that might benefit you by refreshing you for another test. If you are refreshed you won't be falling asleep during any other test most likely.
In conclusion I think students should be allowed to sleep in class. It can benefit in many ways we probably didn't know of. Teachers today will make a student stand up and do work if they go to sleep, but sleeping in class really isn't bad in some cases. The nap can help students to be more active in classroom activities after they wake up. It also can increase test scores. This is I think it should be allowed. Lack of sleep can cause short term effects like headaches or mood changes, but it can also contribute to more major issues like heart disease or high blood pressure. It can also impact memory and attention span, which causes problems with attending school. These effects can be extremely harmful and can put many students at risk of health problems. Teen could start school times later to improve their health, and live longer. If schools don’t take action know they will be the cause of why adolescents experience permanent damage. Therefore, more the ricks teen are taking of sleep deprives is depression, obesity, bad grades, etc, school need to take action NOW. If school are going to take action there decisions will be the best because it’s going to benefit students health in many way. They will re-store any information they learned during the day, it will also build muscle and bone while if they don’t sleep they will not learn anything or have strong muscles and bones.
It may be because they are tired or maybe they just do not want to be there. “...and had better grades than students at a school with a 7:15 a.m. start time” (Eder). How does getting more sleep even help you get better grades? A student who studies will study even on a night if the time was normal. Even if the time is pushed back, some students will not study because they do not care or they just simply never study.

starting times begin at 7 A.M in the morning, making teenagers wake up around 5:00 A.M to 6:30 A.M. causing teenagers that stayed up last night weary and fatigued when they arrive at school. Sleep is an enormous part of growth, health, and prevention of stress, think about what happens when you lack sleep. Almost anybody that is exhausted will have lack of focus throughout the day. 28% of tired students tend to fall asleep in their first class causing a harmful grade. Some sleepy students do not even bother to show up to school, contributing to drop out rates and damaging grades to rise.
What if sleeping could solve all of our problems? What if school starting later was the cure for mental health in teens across the US? Some scientists are saying that this is the answer. Many schools are doing just that as they push to start at a later time. Park City High School should start at a later time for many reasons such as the improvement of academic skills and success, mental health and cut sleep-related car accidents down to a minimum.
If break is chopped up like this, students will get constant rest and relaxation to catch up on a healthy sleeping schedule. Children need to unwind after a long stressful period of time and doing this can only help. In addition, human need the most sleep in the first eighteen years of their life. In Peg Dawson’s article “More Proof Sleepy Teens Learn Less”, which was published in Education Digest (April 1, 2013) she states that, “Although research indicates that teens require at least as much sleep as they did as preteens (8.5 to 9.25 hours per night), under 15% of teens report that they sleep at least 8.5 hours on school nights, and over 25% report that they get less than 6.5 hours of sleep on school nights.” I don’t understand why school districts would want kids to test, do more work, and stay up late studying when they are fatigued, because students work efficiency plummets without a steady rest.
Middle Schoolers should have a bed time. They are constantly busy doing sports or homework which means they need their sleep. Sleep is very important. Middle Schoolers need to be healthy and do well in sports/school.
Therefore there is time in a student 's day for them to take a nap if we would only allow it. In conclusion, students should be allowed to take naps during school. This is due to the fact that napping improves the mood and academic performance of the student. And that many great leaders take naps.
I didn’t have time to finish my homework last night! Trust me we have all said those word at least one time in our lives. You don’t have to worry about finishing homework in one day anymore if Parras Middle School switches to block scheduling. Block Scheduling is the best thing for this school. It helps students get a better understanding for the subject they are learning, get students ready for high school, have longer classes, and have 2 days to do their homework.
America’s high schools are in desperate need of help. Students should feel there is a purpose in going to school and getting an education. They need to be more motivated to go to school. The amount of tests students take in High School is ridiculous. Students need to take less standardized tests.
There are 24 hours in a day, 8 of those hours belong to school. From the moment when a student wakes up, they begin to prepare for school then go to school, most schools start around 8:00-9:00 am, so most students get up 1-2 hours earlier to get ready. Students need at least 8-9 hours of sleep to be able to function. With students having after school activities that take up around 2 hours, students are exhausted and when they get home all the want to do is relax, but some of them have responsibilities that they have to do, which gives them less time to relax from a long day of school. Dinges, napping for as little as 24 minutes improved mental performance.” If somebody naps longer than 24 minutes they will feel tired and also have troubles sleeping that night. If somebody decides to take a nap you shouldn’t take a nap to early nor too long. Napping has been proven to be good for everybody. “Enough sleep is just as important for good health as nutrition and exercise.”
