Women deserve the same pay as men in society because women work just as hard as men. For most of history women did not have the same rights as men. They were not allowed to vote or to own property. They did not have access to the same schools, and they could not work at the same jobs. Despite that, women have made important contributions to the world. Some did so by fighting for women’s rights. Others made their mark in a particular field, such as science, the arts, government, business, sports, and social reform. According to Helen Mirren, ”The role of women has always been undervalued in the spy world, always undermined in terms of recognition. Unfairly so. It 's the world that needs women”(Women in History at a Glance par.75).This demonstrated that the role that women have in the world has been thought of being weak or that were not good enough to be like men or be able to work and get the job done like a man …show more content…
What should matter is how hard you work and what amount of work you can get done. This suggests that whether you get paid more or less it should not be determined as if you 're a female or male because if women work just as hard as men they should get the same pay. Women 's History in America Presented by Women 's International Center states observers that, “Throughout most of history women generally have had fewer legal rights and career opportunities than men”(Par. 1). This quote shows that through much of history, women have worked just as hard as men women have not been treated as equals as men have because they were seen as something less than what men were someone that did not have the same skills or same abilities to work just as hard.Definitely It should not matter if you’re a female or a male you should pay the same amount of money if both do the same amount of work.It is not right to pay men more than women just because women are seen to be weaker when women can do the same job as males can.Women should be treaded equally and given the same
Women can do anything that men can do and if women are doing the same job as a man they most definitely deserve to get paid the same. Another thing that I or any other women should not have feel weary about is being paid less or getting
Do you think it is fair for a person to get paid less than someone else simply because of their gender? It is unjust and unfortunately it happens right here in our country. In the United States, women are oppressed every day by receiving a lower wage than men. This is known as the wage gap. They have been mistreated this way for a long enough time already.
Females in the U.S. make just 78 cents to the dollar of what men make for doing the same work. Additionally, women around the world spend more hours a day working without pay. Furthermore, women have to pay more for household items and the United States, along with 8 other countries, doesn’t
In fact according to Jane Gaskell, "Women earned 52.8% of what men earned in 1911, 58% in 1971 and 66% in 1996” (Gaskell Nd). This statistic proved that women earned significantly less than men throughout history. Even after women fought for equal pay it was still not fully achieved. Women’s fight for equal pay has come a long way.
One concept that can potentially solve this problem is comparable worth, or pay equity. This is a simple, bias-free tool used to determine how much a worker should make, based off experience, qualifications, skills, etc. If this concept were legally mandated, businesses would be forced to pay women what they deserve. This intuitive program could help to finally close the gender wage gap. Women do not need to be victims of oppression in the workplace any longer; it is time to embrace solutions like this and fight for
The Equal Pay Act of 1963 says that no employer should treat his or her workers differently because of their gender Everyone that has the same position should be paid the same (Portal-to-Portal Act of 1947). If not paying someone because of their gender is said to be illegal, then
There should be equality between men and women because women work hard as much as men do. In addition, women get so committed to their career that they forget
Wage pay: Are women and men equal enough to get paid the same? In the 1920’s women earned the right to vote. In the 1960’s women entered the workforce. In the 1970’s women had Roe vs Wade passed. It’s 2017 and yet women still don’t get paid the same amount as men.
Equal pay is something women have fought over for a long time, but still haven’t got it. Just because women have only a little less experience as they have to take care of children doesn’t mean they shouldn’t get the same salary. Equal pay is favorable since it boosts the economy, makes the company look better, and helps everyone. Why would equal pay boost the economy, though? Foremost of all, women spend a sizable portion of their income, which leads to higher demand.
Therefore, women should have equal opportunities because women are human beings as well as men. For instance, women should be able to have equal pay wage. Women are also being criticize by their race, depending on their race, the amount of money they get. For example, according to the Americans for a fair chance, stated, “women earn approximately 77 cents for every dollar men earn. Minority women fare- significantly worse-
For many years women have been seen as being “lesser” than men, and even in this great country, women didn 't have the right to vote until the passing of the 19th amendment in 1919. That amendment was passed almost 100 years ago, and surely we have changed for the better... Right? Many people would say that we have, however, it is clear that a woman working the same job as a man is making a significant amount less than the man would. This is a big problem in our country for a number of reasons.
The more money that women make, the more respect they will get. Once people begin the first few steps to equality, they will no longer question “What happens when they have equal pay?” Once women are paid fairly they could get better opportunities. The founding fathers believed that all men are created equal so why shouldn’t females have equality. Subsequently, people will treat you at the same level as men.
It may be 2018, but the gender pay gap is still here, why is that? Women have been and still are getting a lower pay than men to do the same job. Women are doing equal if not more work, but somehow make less. The following paragraphs will explain what is happening today like the fact that over time men 's pay increases more than women 's does. Besides that I will also mention that not just white women make less than men other cultures make even less than them, and I also will share real people speaking up about them being paid less than men.
Women should request a twenty percent pay increase to even up the gender pay gap. In most jobs women earn eighty cents for every dollar a man earns for the exact same job. Employers should pay good, qualified women, who can competently perform their job duties, the same wages they pay men for the same work. Earning twenty percent less is a significant amount and it adds up over time. Throughout the years the pay gap has narrowed but it’s still not equal pay for equal work.
The United States is currently facing an economical problem that involves males and female differences within the workplace. Males are given bigger and sometimes even better rewards for doing equal amounts of work as their female counterparts. Females are frequently not receiving the same wage even if they can complete the same job of a male. Also, females are less likely to get promoted within their job if they are competing against a male. A source states, “Women are now more likely to have college degrees than men, yet they still face a pay gap in every single education level,
