While people all over the world continuously share their opinions on the Internet, YouTube comments should not be regulated for many reasons due to the first amendment, freedom to voice opinion, and freedom of expression. Although, there are other reasons why YouTube comments should be regulated due to cyber bullying and disrespect from viewers, the comments still should not be regulated because viewers should not be denied from voicing their opinions.
By way of example, YouTube is a video-sharing website that allows people to upload/share videos of themselves for millions of people to see. It also allows people to comment/voice their opinions after they have watched the video. The reason why people have the right to share their opinions is because of the first amendment. It says, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to

I can relate this to myself because I love to express how I feel about certain people, violence going on in the world, and anything that is arguable. People have the right to express however they feel. People believe that certain YouTube comments should not be left under videos for the sake of kids, but they fail to realize that if that child is too young, they should not even be looking at a video that they do not have permission to look at. YouTube should not have to regulate certain comments of users good videos because of lack of parental control. A parent can easily lock the computer, block certain websites, and supervise their child when they go online. The responsibility of a child's well being rests on the parent, not everyone else. If parents can’t accept the fact that people have freedom of expression, then they need to supervise there children more, and not blame it on
To protect the “unalienable rights (of) life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” and ultimately the freedom of expression, the First Amendment prevents congress from restricting religion or the “freedom of speech, or of the press or the right of the people to assemble peaceably” in order to . Most importantly what the First Amendment allows is the right of the people to “petition the Government for a redress of grievances”, which allows the American people to “abolish…and to institute a new government, laying its foundation on…principles…most likely to effect their safety and happiness”, exactly as the Continental Congress did with the Declaration of
Where this fits in this conversation is on the side of supporting censorship on the grounds that the parent censors what ever the parent sees fit. However, the article minimally discusses how responsible the parents will be when they censor what their kids will see and hear as well as how they will treat sudden exposure to ideas and images. The writer, here, is on the side of the common, fearful parent who wants to help other parents censor their kids. Unfortunately, this article does not discuss the treatment of censorship when kids are exposed to what the world has. Article 2 Discussion () Even though this article is on the side of pushing for censorship without questioning it’s effects, this article paints the perspective of the reason why censorship exist in the first place; to make sure ideas that are nuanced, very descriptive, and depicts a portion real life through the eyes of mature human beings.
I believe that one other pro of the “youtube effect” is that just like Moises Naim stated in his article, When a video is posted to platforms such as Youtube, it gains more of a permanent presence with the help of bloggers and youtube enthusiasts as apposed to seeing something in the news that most people would end up forgetting about in a few days, Which brings me to the cons of the “Youtube effect”. In Naim’s article he talks about a downside to youtube and how with manipulation, it is harder to know what is real and what is not. I agree with that point because today, there are so many people that know how to photoshop and manipulate videos and photos
The First Amendment to the United States Constitution states “Congress shall make no law…abridging the freedom of speech”. Some people in today’s time would argue the first amendment is one of the most important listed in the Bill of Rights. Many forms of speech are protected by the first amendment that one wouldn’t think would be such as flag burning and “adult videos”. Over the years there have been many different court cases that have debated and fought the forms of speech that are protected. Many people in society treat speech differently and this is given in the United States because there are such diverse groups throughout the nation.
Children just like us have a mind of their own and should be able to make their own decisions by themselves to either pick up the book or to leave it alone. Censorship does not exist in public places such as stores even though children enter stores everyday these kids have learned the decency of what they should or should not do they learned what they want and what they do not want what they like and what they do not like that should be a reason that children should be able to make censorship their choice.
The first amendment of the Constitution guarantees certain rights to citizens. It guarantees the freedom of religion, freedom of the press, freedom of speech, freedom to petition, and freedom of assembly. These five freedoms are part of what makes our country so great. The freedom of religion grants citizens to practice whatever religion they please.
(Thane Rosenbaum page 165) And I believe this limit is crucial especially in places of diversity and higher learning such as college campuses. There is a difference between “trying to persuade and trying to injure.” (Rosenbaum page 166) So while many people believe that freedom of speech on a
Censorship protects kids. In the article entitled “What Children Need is Censorship”, Aric Sigman remarks, “The difference between a child and an adult is that children are more vulnerable to the effects of everything from sunburn and alcohol to ideas and images.” Children are easily influenced most of the time. When they see adults doing things, they wanna do it, too. Sigman also says while free speech may be a laudable aim between adults, the concept is now being used primarily by commercial interests to speak freely to our children.
In my work setting in order to make sure that we are upholding the rights of children and young people we must allow them to have thier freedom of speech. If they want to say something we must listen to them we can't ignore what they are saying as one day they may be in some sort of trouble and they are not going to turn to us due to them thinking we are not going to take them seriously. Allowing children to speak and making sure that we are listening to them we are showing that we are paying attention and not ignoring them, this will show the children that we
Free speech and hate speech can be classified as different topics and when arguing for one, we can also criticize the other. Free expression and free speech on campuses are crucial for sparking important conversations about equality and social justice, and the suspension of free speech and expression may have dire consequences on college campuses. First, freedom of expression allows students to show their own political, social, and cultural views, while also allowing students with common beliefs to align. Free speech and the call for free speech allows those who have been historically systematically oppressed to use their voice.
Our own country is basically threatening ourselves from the freedom of speech and should encourage everyone to express themselves without punishment. This is not necessarily an issue that can be resolved, but it needs to be made publicized and be made aware of. Too much of society are triggered by a simple few words they may come across when scrolling a timeline. Social media is an influential and high powered tool that’s forced a new lifestyle. We must make ourselves and others comfortable with expressing themselves while handling criticism to ensure protection of our freedom of
Clash Of The Voices George Washington once said, "If freedom of speech is taken away, then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter"(Grasso). Freedom of speech has been a delicate subject for a while now and it has escalated now because of the Charlottesville attack(Pearce). When it comes down to whether some free speech should be censored I think that it should be censored because if you start censoring people's beliefs and ideology you basically are killing the purpose of free speech. Now imagine our country without the right to say what we want we would have dictators like Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini and Saddam Hussein running our government. Free speech is needed now more than ever because our country is divided
We can’t misuse the freedom of speech, saying words that can cause serious harm (bullying). This form of speech will cause depression, suicide, and stunted social development. When freedom of speech hurts others, then it is not just an opinion anymore; it is a form of hate
The reason that last rule is causing distress is how broad and vague the rules are, and the enforcement of these rules has been just as vague with little to no communication from the website to clarify. It’s troubling since many YouTubers value commentary about current events and make videos to ensure the public is informed about stories from the news. It seems like YouTube is trying to censor content creators with their last clause “controversial or sensitive subjects.” Subjects that fall under those categories are the ones people want to make the most videos about to be sure the public is well-informed about what is happening, and removing monetization from them makes it so that content creators that talk about important issues lose money for doing
As human beings, we are all born with an entitlement of freedom of speech or synonymously known as freedom of expression as it is a basic human right. It is stated in the Federal Constitution and it is important for us human beings to protect our rights to freedom of speech and expression as it is the backbone for a democratic society. Having the right to express oneself freely without any restrictions is an essential part of what it means to be a free human being. Article 10 in the Federal Constitution states that; (a) every citizen has the right to freedom of speech and expression; (b) all citizens have the right to assemble peaceably and without arms; (c) all citizens have the right to form associations.
