For high schools specifically, attendance is a serious issue. Students would be less reluctant to go to school if either a Friday or Monday was omitted from the school week. Because of this, students might have an improved attitude at school, which could lead to less violence. Going to school one less day per week would also conserve energy and save money for the school. For students whose parent or guardian drives them to and from school, driving to and from school one less time during the week would save them gas.
Sometimes people don’t have all the stuff they need, because they don’t have enough time to get it… and then you would get in more trouble for being tardy to class. We should have longer breaks so people would be more prepared for class. Also if we had longer breaks people wouldn’t have to go back to get their stuff, so in the long run it would make us be able to learn longer...because people wouldn’t have to leave as much.
First, with an earlier start time there is more daylight for sports, allowing for longer practices. Second, Cline (2011) writes that a later start time can impact hours for after-school jobs; which are necessities for some students saving up for college or buying their first car. Third, “Starting the day early means more time for after-school tutoring and that student-athletes miss fewer classes to travel to after-school competitions” (Anderson, n.d., para. 2). An early start helps to ensure that a student or student-athlete can get help on a topic that they struggle with.
For example “Barber Jerry” in the article “Year Round schooling really works” states that “The most important advantage of the balanced calendar, where students are never out of school for more than one month at a time”, this grants less time for students to lose most memory over the breaks. While students are on their one of their breaks many people believe students may not be able to work or have contact with teachers. Although it may be a little difficult for students to arrange a time to meet with certain teachers it is very much possible. In fact, students are able to do attend what is called “intermission classes”(Wildavsky) this is alike to summer school which is found in the agrarian school calendar. This is focused for the students that are troubled, or students that are looking for
Taking long breaks from education can distract one and may lead to taking more than one year of a break. While taking a break from school before going to college, may cause some people to become young parents, then going back to school will not be a priority because now the main focus will be about their child. I think it is better to go right after high school that way you are not
PCEP needs to change their start times for the better of their students. If we pushed the school start time back an hour it would benefit everyone. The American Academy of Sleep Medicine say we shouldn’t start school any earlier than 8:30 am. According to sciencedaily.com, a CDC study found that 85.6 percent of U.S. high schools started before 8:30 a.m. Earlier start times lead to car accidents, depression, and poor academic performance.
There is often a great deal of stress on students because they have been away from school for the whole summer. More frequent miniscule breaks would help the students so they didn’t get as burned out. They are able to have breaks from school and recharge. Conservatively affecting around 10% of children and
The freedom from school that comes during summer break or vacation is greatly anticipated by students all over the country. Summer break helps students rest and prepare for the next round of school. Unfortunately, the time to recharge during the summer is disappearing for some students with the rise of year-long schools. While year-long schools have some benefits, they are not advantageous to the student. With hectic schedules, late nights, and the pressure to push themselves academically, it is important that students have summer break to regain their social, physical, and psychological health.
Coming to school later than we already do could help society in so many ways. You have the students that wake up, go to school for 10 hours, go to practice for 3 hours, then stay up doing homework and projects for 2 or more hours. You have teachers that teach, stay after school, go home, grade lessons, make more lessons for tomorrow, etc. With a schedule like that, lots of rest is extremely important. Going to school a little later could be the key to that extra rest.
There is no doubt that there will be time when your time management isn’t going to be the best, but you should try to work on making it the best you can as frequent as you can. The best piece of advised I can give you from experience is to spend a majority of your free time reviewing material from earlier in the term to help with your midterms and finals. To prepare for college time management you should start making list and planning out your daily schedule immediately, even if it’s in the summer when have nothing but work and free time. Start writing down when you have plans and your work schedule on the same agenda, just to get into the habit of scheduling out your months and days. After three weeks of doing something it will become a habit, this being a good habit to obtain.
Teachers would command higher salaries if they had to work more days. Schools would cost more to operate with air conditioning costs during the hot summer months. However, I am sure that this sort of new schedule could save money. A year round school system would allow for better use of school facilities. Some schools have students in school while others are on break.
Traditional school schedules have kids in school from late summer until late spring, the year-round schedule has kids in school all year but the difference is there are longer breaks in the year-round schedule. It is time to switch from the traditional schedule to the year-round schedule because students learn better and don’t lose information over a long summer break, is more convenient for everyone and reduces the stress of school and makes it more enjoyable. To begin students under the current school schedule where there is one long break in the summer are more vulnerable to losing the information they have learned the past year. Summer break causes students to forget material that they have learned which causes problems because it wastes

The only reason people wouldn’t agree would be because they want to spend time with their children, but they will still be able to because year round schooling gives short bursts of breaks about two weeks every other month(Towler). Finally, Year-Round Schooling would be a great idea to interpret and merge into our school . so that we can not just learn more but not be stressed out and forget what we learned the previous year. What they don’t know is that the People around kids need them to go to school all the time not just for education but, also so they may go to work and feed their families. This method of teaching is something that I have experienced when I was a child and I enjoyed learning while taking one week break about every
