Parents are the most precious gift given by the Allah. Parenting styles are directly influence on the development of the children`s life. Parenting is a most onerous duty in this universe as children`s both mental and physical development depends upon on it. As we can say a child is a model of ones parting style.

In 1960 psychologist Diana Baumrind conducted a study on more than 100 children (Baumrind, 1967). By using different psychological methods. She introduced four important aspects of parenting:
1. Disciplinary strategies
2. Warmth and nurturance
3. Communication styles
4. Expectations of maturity and control
According to these aspects Baumrind introduced three types of parenting styles. (Maccoby & Martin, 1983).
1. Authoritarian parenting style
2. Authoritative parenting style
3. Permissive parenting style
Darling and Steinberg (2009) stated Parenting styles as a universal tendency in which a family functions and in which child bring up behavior of parents or other primary care givers included.
Three main parenting styles have been identified:
a. Authoritarian
b. Authoritative
c. Permissive
a. Authoritarian Parenting Style:
Repressive, injunctive, highly demanding and not amenable to the necessity or demands of children called Authoritarian Parenting style. (Gould & Martindale, 2009).
b. Authoritative parenting style:
Authoritative parenting style present an equilibrium of enthusiasm, domination and highlight on logic and dialogue, between parents and children. (Knox & Schacht,

There are many types of self-esteem such as where the self-esteem forced by the emotions and conditions (Driscoll, 2013).
Higgins explored the consequence between the variations of self-idea and actual self. He found minor variations between self-idea and actual self. His study showed that low self-esteem lead towards negative impact on the psychological behavior or functioning of the person ,on the other the person who have high self- esteem he will be less chances of stress related disorder as well as that person have strong emotions. Self-esteem leave the impact on psychological functioning of the person (e.g. Anxiety, Depression, Eating and Substance Use Disorder) (Robson, 1988). (Higgins, 1994).
What is self –esteem:
Self-esteem is part of daily life and spontaneous level. We all wants to know what self-esteem is. There are three different ways are introduced to understand by these terms. There are three Meanings of Self-Esteem.
1. Global self-
Chapter two in the textbook Reflect & Relate an Introduction to Interpersonal Communication by Steven McCornack talks all about what “self” is and how to achieve complete fulfillment for one’s self which is also known as self-actualization. The components of self, as described in the book are, “ . . . self-awareness, self-concept, and self-esteem” (McCornack 39). Self-awareness is the idea in which one can take a moment to move feelings, beliefs, and other external influences aside and just evaluate oneself in a holistic perspective that is not skewed by opinions of others, etc. Having the ability to actually think about who one is brings a lot of power and mental stability in such a way that allows for improvement.
This style involves setting limits, but being flexible (not making few rules or creating unquestionable laws/rules), encouraging responsibility and paying attention to and being sympathetic towards the child (not using any discipline at all or using very strict punishment), and consider themselves as guides (not authorities or friends). What are the limitations of Baumrind’s description of parenting styles? Baumrind didn’t consider socioeconomic, cultural, or temperamental distinctions, didn’t focus on the parent’s actions, didn’t acknowledge that some authoritarian parents are also loving, and did not recognize that some permissive and lenient parents provide a great amount of verbal guidance to their children. What seems to be the worst parenting
The different approaches are simply classified by a scale of warmth and strictness. Low warmth and low strictness is the neglectful style, high warmth and low strictness is permissive parenting, the authoritative style categorizes itself with high warmth and high strictness, low warmth and high strictness is authoritarian (Estep, Hanna, et al.
Throughout the movie, Parenthood, the three main parenting styles were displayed throughout as, the dictator, permissive, and democratic. The dictator form of parenting, also known as the authoritarian parent sets strict rules and guidelines and will not changing them or give any leeway. Children that have authoritarian parents usually have low self-esteem and trouble to do things on their own when they get older. Then there is the permissive parent, who rather than setting rules and guidelines, opts out of this, their discipline is not seen and if they do set rules, they don 't punish when the rules are broken. There is also a balance of good parenting seen in the democratic form.
Another example of the permissive parenting style shown
With this in mind, a complex discussion of each theory can give one keen insight into the development of the young Harry Potter. Firstly, Diane Baumrind 's theory of the different types of parenting styles is an interesting discussion to have because of Harry 's upbringing with his aunt and uncle. Diane identified four different types of parenting styles in her work: authoritative, authoritarian, permissive, and uninvolved. Harry 's aunt and uncle would most likely be characterized as the authoritarian parenting style. Authoritarian parents, "seem cold and controlling in their interactions with their children.
The parenting paradigm style most exemplified by the Walls family in The Glass Castle a memoir by Jeannette Walls is permissive. Permissive parents are often justified as merely disciplining their children (Cherry, “The Four Styles of Parenting”). Jeannette states that “Dad squatted in front of us” and asked, “so what happened here” to his children who got into an altercation with one of the neighborhood kids (89). Rex Walls demonstrates his inability to rightfully discipline his children for a crime that they committed, by simply just brushing it off and agreeing to skedaddle, or run away from the incident, once again. Permissive parents are also described as being more responsive than they are demanding (Cherry).
There are four major recognized parenting styles: authoritative, neglectful, permissive, and authoritarian. Each parenting style uses a different approach to discipline.
Parenting Style Worksheet (Min of 300 words) Briefly explain the 3-4 parenting styles described in the book. -Dominating/ Authoritarian: This is a parent who is a strong believer in rules and provides high expectation for a child’s behavior. These caregivers seldom show affection toward their children.
I want to explain mainly what the parenting style are. According to Baumrind and her colleagues, there are three parenting styles. These are authoritative, authoritarian, and permissive parenting styles. Baumrind focused on communication and interaction between parents and child. Authoritarian parenting style; parents who have an authoritarian parenting style set strict rules for their children and rules are important for these parents.
(Joseph & John, 2008) Although all of these styles important the two I feel most important to the social and emotional development of the child are Authoritative and Uninvolved. Authoritative parents related to an “energetic-friendly child”. (Parke & Gauvain, 2009) This child showed positive social and emotional development and was a child which could be described as self-controlled, shows interest and copes well with stress. This is due to a parenting style which is warm, shows moderate restrictiveness and gave children considerable freedom.
Parenting Philosophy Family of Origin Parenting has never been easy, and as any parent will admit, it is a very exhausting job. At the same time, parents often claim that it gives the greatest rewards in life. Good parenting is often thought that parents must be involved in the minutiae of their kids’ lives in order to be successful. However, the main goal of parenting is to produce worthy citizens who contribute to their fellow human beings, and it must be up to the individual parent(s) to decide what looks like. Growing up, my parents were very strict, but very fair and compassionate as well.
With the aim of understanding the effects of parenting styles on social behaviour of children, I have studied many researches and realised that parenting style has a major role in a child’s social behavioural development. Parenting style is over all style or example we took from our parents in bringing up one's children instead of a particular choice taken at a particular circumstance. This pattern develops the personality of the child. There are two fundamental components of parenting style, one is responsiveness that is the amount you're willing to give freedom to your child and the other is demanding that is the way strict you are or dutifulness you require.
They expect their children to hold a certain level of maturity. In this type of parenting style, the relationship between the parent and the child is very structured. The communication is very open between the two. The open communication allows the parent to provide a more understanding support. This way the child knows and understands, not only what their parents expect from them, but also the world around them.
The major shift in parenting styles started in the 1970’s pg81. Parents went from being the approvers to the ones vying for their children’s approval. It is also a growing trend amongst parents to accommodate their children’s wants into grownup
