“You can’t cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the water.” Wise words once said by Rabindranath Tagore. He is saying that you cannot accomplish your goals by simply watching them and thinking about doing it. You must push yourself out of your comfort zone to do so. That is why people do extreme sports. They take the time to learn every technique they need to lower any risks and to safely participate. They make sure they know what they are doing rather than just going out there not having a clue in the world what they are doing. Extreme sports can fascinate, thrill, and can even terrify us. Depending on the circumstance they can take a life. One example of this tragedy is Geoffrey Robson. One of his wingsuit flying partners stated, “His calculations were wrong, and he failed to clear the ridge, resulting in his death at the age of 31” (Jones paragraph 7). Of course, this was such a bad fortune, Robson knew the risks. Every single time he flew, he knew the dangers he was at risk of. Of course I am not saying that he didn’t think about what could happen. There is always a possibility of this kind of danger or seriousness in everyday life. If someone is passionate about these sports, let them be passionate. Which Robson was. Everybody involved with sports knows the risks yet, they still find them fun! We cannot live in fear. Which is how these people of the opposite belief view outrageous sports. Robson did not know that it was his last flight and day on Earth, things happen, though he still had a good time while it lasted. Think about it, he died doing what he loved. People should not associate extreme sports with a death sentence. They should be associated with fun, and passion, and pushing boundaries that a lot of people would not do. These people step out of their comfort zone no matter what risks are at stake. They do it because they love what they do.
